No ignition after letting off the key switch

Hey guys.. gotta problem here.. i have a brand new coil pack and module, and checked all the wires, they all spark. But, I have no ignition, the car dies, right after you let off the key. I can turn the engine over, it turns pretty quickly, backfires some and then will start, but only stays started until i let off the key. Runs like poo as well. very choppy and of course - the backfiring.

any ideas?

Let off the key.. as in from the START position to the ON position? Leaving it in the START position shouldn't qualify as "running" IMHO.

Are you certain that you didn't leave anything unplugged accidentally? Have you checked basic things such as all your ignition wires are indeed connected and in the correct order, and various relevant fuses, etc?

Inspect your ECU.

Sounds like a wiring or electrical issue.

I agree with the other respondant. How do you know it's really started if the key is in start the whole time? Plus that must be hard on a starter!
