Replacement Intercooler

So I just bought my second Talon (first TSi). It a 95 FWD. So far it is completely stock. I had noticed when I first drove the car that there was some serious bogging at high boost level. I assumed it was a boost leak. So I spent some good quality bonding time with it last night and found a nice big crack in the IC inlet. I'm going to try and weld it, but if I have to replace it I want to just put in another SMIC. Is there any place where I can find a cheap SMIC, or another make/model with an IC that would fit there. Also, with a stock car, what kind of HP gain would I see with a FMIC? Thanks

Your actually going to hurt your performance, by going with a fmic on a stock turbo..

You can find a stock sidemount in the classifieds.Or on craigslist, there are probably tons of part outs..

You could look around in the classified ads for a smic for a 2g they can be reasonably priced ther. A fmic wouldnt really so any benefit performance wise on a all stock car.

As already stated a fmic is going to hurt your performance I would stick with a stock smic till you start wanting to get a bigger turbo and you have full exhaust. I can't see how a supra smic would gain much more then 10hp but I have never messed with them. Also as said above hit up the classifieds and craigs list.

Yea, they are pretty easy to find and cheap. Would save you the hassle of welding it. I know someone who has 3 stockers if you can't find one.

Sorry for taking so long to reply to this. Thanks for all the replies. I ended up welding it myself. The bottom tube was cracked along the entire perimeter with the exception of about an inch. I just turned down the heat on my MIG welder, cleaned it up, and it turned out just fine. I'll definitely wait till I upgrade my turbos till I go to a FMIC.

some people say it will hurt performance or say it dont. i dont think it does. but hey if you going to upgrade later why not do a front mount.
