I drove this 1g laser for about 1000 miles with no issues other than a few oil leaks. I gave it to a relative and removed my logger cable. After one drive the cel is on. Was the cable somehow preventing it?

Ya the cable was there to tell your logger what cel's were active..Once you remove the cable, there is no more logger to send the cose to..SO it put on the check engine light..

If you have your logger hooked up, you can read, but IDK if you can clear those codes or not..

Go to your local autozone or whatever, and have them check and clear the code..Some places might not have a scanner for obd1, so be prepared to run all over town looking for someone who does have an obd1 scanner..

While using mmcd it never had codes. Never came on when the cable was just dangling. A relative has it so I"ll have to go there with my laptop etc in a week or so. But if it really was the cable keeping the cel away I'll tell him its ok to drive. Only thing I can think doing it is the egr system is removed.
