Being that there never was a red button as OEM equipment on the steering wheel, you may want to contact the PO, or trace the wiring to wherever it goes. It could be nothing at all, or was used as the super boost option on your turbo, or possibly even a self-destruct (joke).

Its the factory Nitrous switch. When you push it v-tec kicks in ya know? No but just follow the wiring and see where it goes as mentioned previously.
