YO I live in Chicago and know a really good DSM mechanic in the area. his name on here is TurboAnything. he stays by bloomingdale. really great guy and cheap too :)

hit me up if you need stuff or help. name is RIchard. 847 877 0657

DSMtuners is rhe to help :)

I think that you are on the right track. I would work on my maintenance things first and then after that I would do the basics of intake and exhaust.

well my mom bf, the one who gave me the car, said the it still has all original exhaust, and he is worried it might my clogged that the gases might not escape properly and cause engine damage

exhaust is always a good mod i put the td05 14b on my car with stock downpipe and o2 housing with 3in catback and i didnt even notice any power gain after i got downpipe and o2 housing on my car it woke it up alot with the 14b

yea i read other places cat backs are usless to do full turbo back to get a good gain, but if i plan on getting a new turbo further down my line wont i need to replace some of those parts again?

I should drop a warning for each post you have made in this thread, but I won't. I'll give you the one, and allow you the opportunity to re-read and UNDERSTAND the rule set you agreed to follow when you registered.

Thanks.

Easy free mods that will increase power/make car run better:
1. Remove the wheel well cover behind the side mount as well as the bumper insert infront of it
2. Remove all the vacuum lines coming off the throttle body (should be 4 lines)
(you don't need to pass emissions on cars 15 years or older)
3. You can hollow out the cat and muffler if you are handy with that kind of stuff (free exhaust!! haha)
4. Block off the EGR valve
5. Oil catch can instead of recurculating it through your intake (small coolant line and empty soda bottle)
6. Clean all turbo piping, intercooler, and throttlebody
7. Remove the BCS restrictor (good for 1-3 more PSI)
8. Check and set timing (advance up to 3 degrees from stock)

Cheap Upgrades and maintance:
1. Replace/flush all fluids (change oil, replace diff, replace tranny fluid, and flush the coolant)
2. Balance tires and get an alignment (if not all new tires)
3. Heat wrap the downpipe
4. New plugs and wires
5. Change all belts (both timing and serpintiene)
6. Bottle of seafoam and a new fuel filter

These mods wont give you 100hp but you'll deffinently feel a difference and the car will run much better

As Far as my maintenance goes since i got the car
Oil Change
Spark Plug wires
Spark Plugs
New Ignition Coil
In the shop as we speak for transmission work
And when it get out I am going to replace my belts
Also as I listed in another forum I have a problem with my O2 sensor

after I get all that I think I am Going up to stage 0 mods. Unless I missed something maintenance wise.

Flush the cooling system if the last time it was done is unknown.

Get your tires and alignment checked
New fuel filter (i pulled power outta an 87 mustang with just a new filter)
And a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to clean out the fuel system

You mean clutch work. . . ??? . . . Hopefully you didn't have a stock replacement swapped in.

No mine is a automatic, and i used fuel injector cleaner my last fill up two weeks ago. My mom boyfriend got a whole new radiator not to long ago but flushing it was also in my future. And the alignment seems fine and I already have new tires and rims for my car

Save your money and do it right. Im sure everyone agrees with me when you first get your car you want to dump all this money into it and make it superfast. Sometimes you need to mapout whats the best way instead of cheapest. Not all the time the best of the best is the best sometimes you can go around the best. 3 inch exhaust straight thru and intake adapter with filter will give you a massive difference. Take a dremel to your intake manifold. ( not around the areas where you need a gasket but remove space to allow for more airflow. You can also take a dremel to your tb. Just dont crack it. Spark plugs and wires and MSD will give you quicker acceleration as well as improving ## gas mileage. Theres tons of stuff

So if i do the GM MAF conversion (which I was thinking of doing after my belts are done) Would I need to have a BOV to put in at the moment, or could I install it then and do the BOV later. Also is it recommended for a mechanic to do it or is it simple enough for me to do it myself.

Why is a MAF conversion on your radar at all?

Also, what does this mean?

Cause i was told that I would need to convert it to have a Atmospheric BOV. And I meant that if I do convert do I also need to put in the BOV right at the time of conversion or would it be ok to wait down the line a bit before I but in the BOV, like would it all have to be done at once or not?

All you have to do to convert your stock recalculated bypass valve to an atmospheric blow off valve is remove the recirculation hose and block off the port on the intake pipe. That’s it.

I was assuming that would have to buy one, but that works I guess

I'll bite

Firstly, What is a "recirc valve"? I would ask if you mean the Blow-Off Valve however you clearly stated that "u can take the recirc valve off the blow off valve."

Secondly, where did you obtain the information that you can vent the stock setup to the atmosphere safely? I know you did not state in your post that it can be done safely, but here we promote doing things correctly, not half-assed.

Thirdly, are you aware of the side effects of doing this? That's metered air that is not being recirculated back into the system, thus, the ECU assumes that it is still there and cannot compensate for the loss of air in the system. This causes a Rich condition when the accelerator is released and the BOV is allowed to open to allow pressure in the charge system to 'vent'. That air never makes it to the combustion chambers. Fuel is not reduced as the ECU does not know this air has been lost, thus you obtain a rich mixture which can lead to stalling, fouling plugs, stumbling, stuttering, and if bad enough, 02 sensors failing prematurely.

Finally, please, don't go out of your way to offer poor advice whether it be incomplete good advice or simply there to be sarcastic. This individual has a legitimate question in regards to learning what he can do to modify his vehicle, though likely blind for not having seen the tech posts on the first page initially. The last thing needed is poor advice that will only lead to the failure and crippling of yet another DSM.

Thank you for your input, however, you should pick up a book and start researching common knowledge.

I made that mistake of trying to not run mine recirculated ended up having the car bog and have me tripping out over it.

maintenance is the number one priority

Take off the boost solenoid nipple if you want a little more psi but maintenance first

Yeah but the thing is I still have the same 20 year old factory turbo. Also as people state to switch over to a 2g manifold, but if i find a turbo 2g and use the manifold should I pull the turbo to and use that on my car? And would it be a exact fit or will I have to do more to make it fit?

I have the same 20 year old turbo running twice over stock boost and it's just fine :idontknow: . . . If it isn't broke. . .

You don't want a 2g turbo. They are the same size as your stock 13g (since you have an automatic). Your upgrade would be to the stock 20 year old 1g manual turbo, the 14b. It is a whole frame size larger than the 1g auot turbo and the 2g auto/manual turbo. About 80whp more potential.

If you get a 20 year old 14b, you will need to get a 1g manual manifold or 2g manifold ( do recommend the 2g as it is less prone to crack). The 13g turbine inlet hole is much smaller and the manifold is cast to fit that hole. the 14b will bolt onto a 13g manifold, but you will be sacrificing flow potential.
