dont have much money but want to mod my talon, anything easy or cheap i can do till i get some money?:hmm: I got a 1991 Eagle Talon TSi awd

I have read almost this entire thread(out of curiosity) and notice that all of your answers can easily be obtained if you do alittle more research.. I mean I understand that your new 2 dsms and maybe young(assuming from the questions your asking) or maybe jst noob 2 turbo engines..but if your serious about your car just do alittle homework instead of asking off the wall questions..not making fun or trying 2 bash you because I once was clueless about dsms years back, but I'll tell you one thing, I knew my basic b4 I even pulled my car out the driveway and it gave me some type of pride b4 I started asking questions

Ps this site and vfaq.com gave me alot of information before I even needed help.. Helll even way b4 I even got my tsi

But goodluck dude!

This is true. I lurked for a long time. And never posted a question for what felt like forever, because I got all my answers already in here somewhere. I really honed my search, study, and investigative skills.

what about Lancer Evo parts? dont some of those work on DSM's?

1-3 work on 1g cars...in some cases.

Maybe you should work up a real plan by searching the tech guides here. You don't need a MAF change, you don't need to vent your BOV, you don't want a T2small on there (not to mention the work)...the most on target you are is about the manifold.

This is what I meant by asking a clear question. You're firing blindly in the dark.

Take it easy on him guys , we were all new once and maybe didnt have the time to stay up searching for hours like we do. :)

I just want to vent my BOV cause I love the way it sounds. The reason i asked about the Evo is cause a guy is selling the manifold, turbo, O2 housing and all that stuff of a bundle of his Evo and he has it tagged under DSM also, I was thinking a Evo would be a better choice cause there high performance, but if im better off with a 2g turbo manifold I found one of those for 40$. I knew that the 4g63 is shared by DSM and early Evos but I was not sure if they were exactly interchangeable.

If its an Evo 3 then the turbo (16g), manifold, and o2 housings are good upgrades for your DSM. If its newer, like say an Evo 8, then no it won't work on your car. $40 is a decent price for a 2g manifold, that's what I paid for mine.

i remember it was a 16g turbo ill double check

Damn its a Evo 8, still wonder why he has it tagged under DSM tho

Just do maintence. Your far from venting your bov. Yeah sure you can do it with a maf translator and all but then you need a logger of some sort, and have to wire it in. By the sounds of it you don't work on your car yourself very much. Not trying to bash you or anything, but get the venting idea and upgrade turbo idea out till you have ALL maintence and freebe mods done. Then set a goal for yourself. If all you want to do it rape slightly modded hondas it won't take much at all. Just look at upgrade paths. Doing stage 1 will kill a lot of hondas.

Doing stage 1 will kill a lot of hondas.

agreed. I have a full stage 1 upgrade to my car including all freebie mods plus a big 18g turbo (on a fully rebuilt setup :sneaky:) and at 15psi I pull 280 at the wheels. More than 90% of hondas out there. And if I get beat by one then I'll just hit the little button on my profec b that sends me to my 22psi high boost tune hahaha bye-bye honda :thumb:
its easy to make these cars fast with know how, but with out doin a little more research you'll be forever lost. Start with maintance. Change every belt, every fluid, and give the car a once over to look for mechanical flaws. Then do every single freebie mod in the stage 0 path. Then full 3" turbo-back, intake, and a MAF-T and pop a boost contraler on there and run 15psi. Expecially with AWD you'll be a honda killer from a dig. (look into a 5 speed conversion soon, auto's lose more power through their drivetrains :barf:)

Welcome to the DSM world and happy tuning :hellyeah:

I just read over this entire thread. Honestly, I was curious to see if he was going to get bashed somewhere along the thread. But, he is new to DSM's and probably to any tuning what so ever but he is willing to learn. You never know, he could be the next Bushur LOL.

I will chim in on some advice. And I can't stress enough about this- MAINTENANCE. I promise you, owning one of these cars can turn out to be a real big headache if you don't perform maintenance regularly.

You are never finished with maintenance. There is always something to be done. Fluids, belts, tune ups, brakes, hoses, clamps, tires, replacement parts, the list never ends. When I first got my TSi, I did tons of maintenance right from the bat. Didn't buy any performance/aftermarket parts or upgrade anything until I got some must-do things comepleted.

Something that I like to do, is between every performance/aftermarket part, I first do something in the maintenance category. At first it was just so I would feel better about myself dumping money on an aftermarket part, but then it became a routine. And it has worked quite well. I am always buying aftermarket parts and for every aftermarket part I buy, I do something involved with maintenance.

Maybe that will help you for the future as it does me. Now you still have alot of maintenance to do before buying much aftermarket parts. So get that maintenance done and have fun. After all, you may not make the trip to the shootout this year if you break down caused by something you should have taken care of =]

Another thing...READ. There is an endless amount of information here and on other sites. Knowledge in the brain is the best mod you can get!

Don't change from auto if you want to have more consistant launches and have a reliable drivetrain. Nothing like breaking a center diff with minor power and watch the honda go by while they point and laugh. Autos typically get there quicker even including their drivetrain loss. Which with a stock stall is rather minimal. What he needs to do more than anything is ditch that little stock 1g automatic 13g turbo for a stock 1g manual 14b turbo.

I agree as well. I have an automatic too but I have a 14b turbo. I have thought about getting a 5 speed ECU so I can run 450cc injectors instead of the puny little 390cc's. Maybe I wouldn't even need to get a 5 speed ECU, I am not sure yet. I haven't really done that much research on it yet as I have many other plans going on right now.

I was going to ask about a manual conversion, but you already bought it up. My car is a auto and is in the shop right now getting the computering fixed (which im really starting to think this guy is starting to rip me off, i gave him 200$ down and he always tells me he ordered the parts that he will get them in 3 days so when i call back he said that somebody else bought it, which does not make sense. If he ordered it how can someone else buy it? any way) I know typically most people who tune use manuals, and some of my rice friends make fun of me for having a auto. I was thinking of just taking my car back from this guy and seeing if I can get a manual conversion?

yea I already talked that over in another Thread. Im getting my car today its been sitting over there for 3 and a half weeks now and they still dont fix it even after a gave them a couple hundered down. There really starting to piss me off. I just need to find the damn TCU to fix it.

All these people posted, and said do this. do that, change this, and that, and noone showed him this link... http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/239375-maintenance-schedule.html If i had a junkyard motor the first thing i would do to my car is everything on this list. Your talking about a good little bit in money, but you won't be riding down the road wondering if today is the day. http://vfaq.com/index-main.html another link to help out. I would do the vacuum lines too http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...-speed-shop-vacuum-diagram-removal-1g-2g.html

I just got the car a few weeks ago, the motor was out in a few years ago by my moms boyfriend. I opptained all the problems with the car. Most of the stuff has been changed. Plugs, wires, o2 sensor and wires, coolingsystem, brakes, ect, im getting the My tcu rebuilt, and then my timming belts.
