Rebuilding HY35

Hey,

Im trying to rebuild my HY35 and get ready for the summer, but Im having some issues. The C-clip on the compressor housing seems impossible to take off. The clip in question does not have any tabs to use pliers or anything on, just two small holes to fit a C-clip tool into. I tried using my C-clip tool and I just snapped the arms because this clip is HUGE!

Any ideas?

Needle nose pliers with "custom ground tips".

16" snap ring pliers is what I use.
