Hi everyone,

I have a 98 Eclipse RS without ABS.

As a result, my rear wheel hub assemblies do not contain an ABS sensor (much like seen in this ebay link: 95-99 Eclipse Talon Avenger Rear Wheel Bearing Hub 2g | eBay)

The last time I replaced the rear hub assembly/bearings, I used replacement part number 512136 that contains the ABS sensor ring, and grinded it off. However, someone else is going to do the work this time, and I do not want to void the warranty on the product.

I do believe there is some sort of cap that prevents this from being installed as-is, hence why grinding it seemed like the appropriate answer at the time, but I wanted to know if there was some better clarification to this issue, and if there is a better part number that DOES NOT have the ABS sensor on it.

Please let me know...

Thanks guys.

What you have is what I incounter all the time with base model cars at work....:banghead: The part number you listed above is correct, what you may have is another problem..the abs ring is now factory installed and will not cause damage to your car if does not require it...saves the manufacturers time and money in the long run...back to not sounding like you do not know..sorry if does..but you will need to either, oh and the rings CANNOT be taken apart.:nono: what you are going to need to do is walk into an "O'reilly's" and ask them to "Look up your car's rear hub w/o ABS...under the site "IMC"....i work tomorrow, you can wait and i can get you a # and list price for what you need is correctly w/o any trouble....just saying! :thumb:

Ive never encountered a hub bearing that has an "abs" ring in the bearing assembly itself. As far as Ive noticed on my spyder and GSX, the abs sensor bolts to the steering knuckle itself and the axle is what gives the reading with the "notched" ring, NOT the hub bearing. I really dont know what you're saying I guess. Ive just taking the breaks off, then the 4 bolts holding the hubs in and replacing with a new bearing. :idontknow:

You obviously haven't replaced the rear hub assembly on a 2g fwd with abs then. There is no axle in the rear to have a trigger ring on it.

Do yourself a favor... DON'T buy these off of Ebay....
Get an OEM part as they will last, unlike the ebay, built by the lowest bidder, hubs

Already learned this lesson.

I replaced the fronts in July. No issue.
I replaced the rears in December. No issue.

I hit black ice going around a curb right after a bridge, car slides sideways into curb, hits the front tire, and rear tire.

All 4 wheel bearings shot. Nothing else damaged.

:banghead:

My Timken's just got here today.

I'm having this issue, ordered from Detroit axle.com,the rear assembly has the abs gear, everyone says without abs ring isn't available, had the car apart and hub won't fith because of dust cover, can I remove the abs hub and if so will a 2or 3 jaw puller maybe work

You had me curious. I happened to have an extra hub and a 3 jaw puller in the shop. It pulled off easily with an electric impact. I typically resort to the press because I have one and it's easy, but you can indeed use a 3 jaw puller instead of removing your dust cover or paying a shop with press. Over time the grease will leak out as it heats up and the bearing wears, which creates a huge dust and dirt magnet.
