I really am in a jam, and I need some assistance...

I've got a '95 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. I went in for my annual state inspection. I passed emmissions effortlessly. But during the safety inspection. There was play in my rear driver side wheel.

The tech said bad ball joint/lower control arm, and failed my car for the inspection. Well, we were looking for parts in the parts catalogue. And there were no rear suspension parts listed at all.

The techs were really thrown off by this, and I'm completely lost as to what is wrong, and what needs to be done to repair the car. If pictures of part in question would help. Just ask, and I'll get some. Basically, if you're looking at the setup, it's to the right of the axle, and it connects perpindicular to the brakes, and runs parallel to the axles towards the center of the car.

Can anyone help me out with this?

Red is what is believed to be the problem area... Anyone know what the part is, and information regarding it?

Can that balljoint be purchased spereate from the control arm? And replaced as one single piece? Or am I looking at a whole new control arm?

The dealer does not, they want you to buy the whole arm. I was able to find the ball joints at a local parts store for my fronts, took off the control arms and took it to a shop and they pressed out the old one and in the new one for $25. Make sure you replace the control arm bushing while you have the arm off.

May I ask if this was a chain store? Or was this a smaller mom-pop store?

It was a small local shop. The part showed up on his database so I would assume any auto parts store should be able to order it.

Awesome. Now I'm assuming this was a 1g though? If so, would a 2g be the same? Or am I looking at a completely different suspension design?
