I joined not too long ago and wanted to just use this forum for the search feature and post here and there. My good friend got me into DSM's and I picked up a 96' GST for a damn good price. Question, my friend is always talking about re-routing vacuum lines for better boost i guess you could call it.. I'm guessing it reaches boost better and also raises the psi to like 14-16psi? I'm not sure.. he was also talking about its best to block off the EGR as well. If all this was not done, the car wont run right which does not make any sense to me when the cars come from the factory running right with the vacuum lines routed stock and the EGR connected... Could someone please explain what he is talking about? Big plans are in the process of my GST and I dont want to mess anything up and the car run like shit.

Thanks,
-Mat

I think your friend is talking out of his ass. Egr does not affect drivability. He might have been talking about bypassing the boost control solenoid.

If I had to guess he is probably talking about a emissions delete which really only cleans up the engine bay if im not mistaken. It is not a very good idea if you have smog testing in your state I know mine doesnt and im removing all that crap, along with a battery and fuse box relocation and wire tuck, but thats after everything is running right and im not changing something one the setup. then again winter is right around the corner and turbo+fwd+snow=not good LOL so I should have some time to do it LOL.

Take the vaccum line off that goes to your wastegate that will give you more boost.:hellyeah: But really dont do that. Dont listen to your friend he has no idea what hes talking about.

If you would really like to increase your boost, put a boost controller... Then you can increase decrease your boost.....
