I'm not sure what the problem is but my clutch started making a popping noise everytime I pushed it in for about a week. After the week I was driving and when I pushed the clutch in to shift there was a loss of power when I shifted into a gear and now when the clutch is pushed in it makes a loud rattling noise. I quit driving it the day it started doing the rattling when the clutch was pushed in. Any ideas?

x3 ^^^ throw out bearing is shot. also might want to check your pressure plate, the bolts might be lossening up, i had that happen to me on a 1g that i bought awhile back.

okay thanks guys. There wouldn't happen to be any tutorial on how to replace one online any where? I never replaced one on any car and don't even know where it's located on mine. :(

You have to pull the tranny out. The throw out bearing is on the clutch fork inside the trannys bellhousing. Look for a tutorial on how to chage a clutch and it should show you how. VFAQ should have a good tutuorial. Just google VFAQ and then search the site.

crap, I don't have a transmission jack. Would it cost just as much to take it to a mechanic as it would to buy a transmission jack and do it myself? I looked online and a transmission jack is like $150.

Just use a normal jack with a piece of wood on it. Me and my brother actually didn't use a jack. one of us got under the car and the other through the engine bay and we just picked it up into place. And a mechanic would charge alot more.
