Resolved random bolt hole behind starter plate

Just wondering what is supposed to go in the whole behind the starter plate its to the right of the two freeze plugs and above the rear main seal. Is it just a bolt that screws is?

Well it looks like its bigger than 3/8". It could be even 7/8" or even an 1". Do you have and more feedback. I have looked in the manual and haven't found anything .

It's a 3/8" pipe thread. The OD (including threads) of a 3/8" NPT plug is about 0.67 inches. But, again, I imagine it is BSP thread, not NPT. The difference, BSP is 19 threads per inch, NPT is only 18. BSP has a 55 degree thread angle while NPT has a 60 degree thread angle. In short, it goes to say that the OD isn't 3/8" on a 3/8" pipe thread plug.

If you want the correct part, go to your local dealer or order online using the part number, MD040338, as provided in the other thread. Expect to pay a couple bucks for it.

EDIT: VERIFIED! The plug is a 3/8" BSPT -- the same as what you would find for the large plugs on the oil filter housing and the same thread size as in the large sensors for the thermostat housing.
