Ram Air Intake

Home depot man....

You need a parts list..... This should be adequet to get you started.

1. pipe fited from the Throttle body right around to where the air box used to be. ( i think a 90 degree bend should do).

2. air filter (might as well go K&N)

3. Three hose clamps. (1 for the filter, and 2 for the TB and Pipe.)

4. An Intake coupler

5. Some bracket to hold it in place.

6. A hose or a breather filter.

And if you really want to get creative you could go ahead and make a heat sheild with sheet metal while your at home depot. The box should seal itself off around the filter but giving it room to suck in air, and if you leave it open to the hole that your intake used to go through it would help too.

I'd see about buying a single, mandrel J-bend from Summit or your local exhaust shop (ask if they have a scrap bin) in the diameter closest to your TB. You'll need just about a full 90*, but maybe somthing like 75-80* of it off the TB. Then you just need a couple clamps and a quality filter for the end and you'll be good. The only really tricky part would be figuring out where/how to secure it to the chassis so it's not flopping around on you, resulting in a dropped filter while driving.

yea thats not fun! that happend to me on the highway once. I fabbed up my current intake with the same technique. only I kept the upper part of the factory intake (attached to the TB) and used scrap from the local exhaust shop for the lower end. In the beginning I did not have it secured to any thing and I lost the filter at 75 MPH! OMG All I heard was a thump on the undercarrige and then another when it caught on my muffler! Drug it for about an 1/8 mile before it came out and rolled infront of a rig which finished the job. LOL Needless to say I headed directly for the nearest PepBoys. I did keep it as a token of idiocy though. :thumb:

What I did was keep the stock 90 degree elbow, cut it maby 3 inches after the bend, and taped it to a 3" pipe connected to a filter. I removed my wiper tank and dropped everything back there. My Filter sits below/behind my battery and draws in all the fresh air. Also never had a problem with water or losing the filter.

The whole assembly is maby a foot long AND draws in cold air ... except you might want to use silicone connectors instead of tape, but I'm cheap and mine still holds strong!

I'd still think you'd get colder air coming from the front of the car (infront of the driver side wheel well is best place) Right infront of the vent.

I'll swear by my set-up. The tranny curve feeds cold air up directly into my filter.

I've tryed a CAI, a short ram, and my set-up all in the same day, doing pulls from one stationary object to another a little over 1/4 mile down a road and measuring MPH.

I've tryed this on both an 80 degree summer day and a 10 degree winter day.

Like I said, i'll swear by it.
