Short-Ram intake Vs Cold Air Intake

I am thinking of getting a intake for my Eclipse But I don't which is better because I don't want to worry about water getting my intake.

Depends what your plans are really.

Going turbo, Don't waste your money on a CAI (unless its home made "home depot" piping)

If staying NA a CAI is very benificial.

You could also have a shortram intake and make a CAI box.

I would say just stick with a short-ram intake. I've had variations of both kinds and I honestly couldn't tell a difference. My friend has a 96 rs with CAI, header, and full cat-back and I only have a short-ram and exhaust and I can beat him still.

Besides, if it does rain out, you won't be scared to drive your car with a short-ram.

I'm gonna vote for whichever's cheaper, cause I had a CAI and the only difference I noticed was in the exhaust note.

If you go with a CAI make sure and get an air by-pass valve

Play it safe and just get a short ram. The gains aren't sufficient enough to risk taking water in.

Exactly, that is a big must with a CAI and you can get them at ebay for about 14 dollars. All i have to say about that is don't get those cheap CAI's off ebay for 20 bucks, i bought one and the bracket snapped off within a month so i just sawed some of the pipe and made a short ram.

I have an Ebay short ram and it works just fine. Nice filter came with it too and nothings fallen off or breaking yet.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the eBay short rams: a pipe's a pipe... The CAIs might be a different story if the brackets snap off, though.

In any case, I definitely suggest upgrading the filter. Sorry tegster1, but I just don't trust something so critical that came on a $20 part. I'd opt for a K&N universal filter to replace whatever comes with the intake you choose.
