Quick 2g carrier bearing fix

Is there a quick way to fix the carrier bearing on a 2g? I heard somewhere that the silicone fix for the 1g wont work. Do I just have to get a brand new carrier bearing? How bad is the install from experience?

there is no quick easy fix for a 2g.
you have to take the drive shaft apart. and since you have to take it apart it will need to be balanced once it is reassembled. to be honest its kind of a pita since usually no one local will balance a 3 piece driveshaft.

there was a method i was taugh to balance it and that is to position a worm clamp on the DS and keep putting it in different spots until the vibration goes away but it takes alot of patience to get it right.

No, it wont. For a 2g you need too different carrier bearings (different part #'s).

I'm trying to make a list of everything I need to do this job:
carrier bearings
axle circlips
transfer case fluid
new transfer case seals

What else?

there is another joint in the ds besides the u-joints.

3 U-joints and some grease to re-pack the lobro joint. If you mark everything properly when dis-assembling it, you can match the marks on re-assembly and the balance will be fine.

The 1-G shafts are balanced in the front two portions, I believe the 2G's are at least for the front two, not sure about the third. I just rebuilt my 1-G on Saturday, no vibration with matching the marks
