I am redoing all of my coolant hoses and I have a question about 1 stretch of hose.

I have a line running from the t-stat housing to the OFH.
There is a small metal tube in between two hoses.
I was wondering what its purpose is and if I can just run 3/8" hose all the way instead.
This line also Ts off and goes into the turbo coolant return line.

Im planning on replacing all my old rubber hose with high temp braided nylon. You can find it at JEGS or Ebay, either will work. As stated above, i wouldnt allow it to touch the o2 housing, manifold, downpipe etc... Things get very very hot and a bust there would leave you stranded.

It looks like part #8...someone must have chopped it all up before I got it. I also do no have group 19 & 20 installed. (Is this a 2gb diagram?)
It connects the OFH with the T-stat housing.
Does anyone know where I can get that part (8)?

-boost97gst that's what happened to mine. It was routed too close to the O2 housing.

Part 8 in the diagram is Mitsubishi part number MD319841. That diagram is for all 2G turbo DSMs. The parts in "group" 19 and 20 are the 2g OEM turbo coolant feed; see: 2g Block Coolant Line. Since the components are missing, it is important to know whether the spot on the block they are meant to go to are there or not. If not, you may have a 1G engine.

19Eclipse90 - I think you are right. I tried putting on my gates water pump for a 95-99 and it does not fit.
The bolt holes do not line up. So from your above post and the water pump not being the correct. I believe I have a 1G block with a 2G head on it.
Which all 1Gs are 6-bolt correct?

I re-ran the coolant line for now. it is going from the t-stat housing, in front of the radiator, then to the oil filter housing. Just temporary until I can get the z-pipe. It was running way to close to the exhaust mani and o2 housing.
