This is not a thread about pulling the motor without the trans!!!!

I have used the "search" and "google" and still can't find a decent writeup for this.

This is in regards to a 1996 FWD AUTO

Motor and trans is ready to come out and I'm looking to pull them both together. I have done this many times befor but always with a lift and just dropped it all out the bottom. I am in a garage with NO lift and a cherry picker and myself.

I need to know if I am going to be able to pull the whole thing with the pulleys still on the engine? It looks as if there is not going to be enough room to slide over far enough for the trans to clear if I don't remove the pulleys. The trans tucks into the wheelwell a few inches and the pulleys only have a 1/2in of clearance. I would hate to try and find out they have to come off. There is no a/c in back and the turbo is off as well. I'm trying to pull it as complete as possible.

If someone that has done this on an out fwd could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!!!

I left all my pulleys on the car and pulled the engine and transmission out with my cherry picker. The engine and transmission had to be at a slant. It didn't just come strait out you have to put the engine and transmission at a slant.

A load leveler makes it a lot easier. Tilt the trans as far towards the ground as you can, lift a bit, rinse and repeat until the pulleys are clear; then you can start maneuvering the assembly out of the bay.
