I have a 1998 Eclipse RS and I just recently replaced my 5 speed transmission with a PT Cruiser 5 speed transmission and I noticed that it is reading my speed wrong and it’s adding miles on the car faster than it should.

Is there a fix for that or am I going to have to just deal with it?

If it is cable driven, you can possibly switch out the driven gear to a different amount of teeth. It involves a bit of math.
If it is ran buy the ECU I don't know of a easy answer unless the VSS's signal can be altered. Just off the top of my head stuff.

The PT cruiser transmissions had a different final drive ratio than the Eclipse transmission. So if you're using the Eclipse speed sensor it will be reading incorrectly. I'm unsure if the PT sensor has the same connector, but you can probably at least use the gear from it.

I’m using the sensors that came on the pt cruiser I haven’t tied the sensors from my original transmission it reads that I am going 80 mph but in reality I’m going about 40 and the miles on my dash are going up as if I’m doing that speed

That's a huge difference in the reading. Even with the ratios being altered it would not show that much of a difference. There may be an issue with the sensor, ecu, wiring or gauge cluster. Does the speed climb steadily and consistently? Usually a gauge cluster issue is intermittent or very "jumpy". I would try swapping back to the Eclipse sensor just to see if it makes a difference.

The PT and Eclipse are both 3.94 final drive. They use slightly different 1-4 gears but that wouldn't mess with the speedo reading. I've always used the eclipse VSS when ive swapped and not had any issues.

I do completely agree that no ratio found in any of the NV-T350 transmissions would account for the speedo being that far off. There is definitely something wrong with the PT VSS or the PT may use a different number of pulses per mile which would make sense if they doubled the PPM then the speed is doubled. PT is newer and more "luxury", more PPM can regulate cruise control better so makes sense they might have upgraded. I really think tossing the eclipse VSS in will solve all issues.

My apologies, I remember now it's the NVT-850 with different ratios. It was around 3.5, if he were referring to the PT GT what I said would be true. Unlikely though.
