ok so im getting a full 6 bolt long block for $150 comes with everything even a partial rebuild kit which i wont be using but im trying to build an 11 sec or break.. 1g fwd dsm..but here it goes what it will consist of for now if im missing anything let me know....ill be starting next week..on a budget so some stuff will come off ebay but my calculations are right i should be at around 350-400hp..on e85 race gas

6 bolt
cometic headgasket
JE pistons and rings.acl rod bearings
gates racing timing belt
arp head studs
arp rod bolts
eagle h beam rods
oil catch can
oil pump
water pump
polished crank
honed out cylinder
oem rear main seal..inputs would be appreciated if im missing something:D

turbo:
ported big 16g or a holset turbo.undecided
2g manifold with external wg flange.
1000cc injectors
3 in down pipe
255 walbro pump..i have 195 so ill be switching that out

head:

beehive valve springs.
titaniam retainers
hks 272 cams

these goals are for later after the motor is built all the way and ready to go in
transmission:
lsd.

tires:
slicks

tuning:
dsmlink v2..
91 and up eprom ecu
wideband o2

DSM link!! You will need some thing to tune with. Your low 11s goal will be tough with a FWD and those mods! A bigger turbo would help. Good luck with your build and acheiving your goal!

thanks and yea im looking into going with a holset turbo dont know which one yet??any ideas??..but yea im getting suspension for sure. right now im getting the motor built first then from there ill go onto body mods...yea im goin with dsmlink v2 with eprom ecu... before the motor goes into the car

If your gunna use the 2G manifold and run the Holset turbo, your gunna need the Bulls Eye exhaust housing. The HX35 is impressive but the HX40 has more power potential. Depends on how much lag you want. You'll also need to dent your water pipe to clear that compressor housing.

If your primary goal is just to hit a certain time bracket on a budget with a FWD you definately wanna go with the slicks first and foremost. The difference between slicks and street tires at the track with most moderate drivers is AT LEAST 1/2 a second.

I'm a huge advocate of nitrous because I've researched it and continue to use it after many years now. So if you just wanna say I run 11's I'd tell you to back it up with a bottle. With all the different setups out there you literally have LOTS of avenues you can go to hit 11's. I saw a guy in the same boat as you just recently. He has the same car with similar mods. Full weight with an EVO 3 turbo, bolt ons, and slicks. Half the time he was running low 12's and the other half of the time he was in the high 11's. They were old worn slicks so he was only hitting 1.9 60 foot times. He was untuned as well.

Good luck with the car and your goals.

thanks bro that boost my build stamina a little LOL..thats good to hear that he ran low 12s high 11s on slicks but my motor is probly about to go soon..so i want to have the other one built and ready but for sure im looking into some BFG DR.i hear good feed backs about the holset so im realy looking into one of those.and thanks for the tip about the water pump i never knew that.but ill keep yall informed with pics of how it goes

1000cc injectors for a 16g? Thats a bit over kill and may make for a sloppy idle. Also everything you have listed is not a budget build. You can run 11's on a completely stock motor with 550cc if you pick the right parts and have a good tune on race gas. Have you done a compression test on the current motor? mine as well run that first with all the parts, it may surprise you.

im running 150 all the way acoss the board...right now im running on 16 psi..but i have a feelin this motor is going to go on me soon so im just buildng a replacement..ima run this one on 550ccs and an safc 2 for a lil while to see if i can atleast get into low 13s on that setup.but the reason why i said 1000cc inj with th 16g is because im planning on running e85 only no mix..so dsmlink v2 a gm maft and 28psi is the goal im looking for.

wow thats amazing i might turn my boost controller up a lil bit..when i get something to tune with..what are you tuning with??

Good luck with the build! E-85 16g's can be very impressive! With a nice set of tires I could see it going into the 11's. As for the holset if you have the money I highly recommend one. Even if you can get into the 11's with a 16g it will only take you so far. For the money holsets are worth ever penny. As for the water pipe I actually didn't have to dent mine at all...

i found a holset for a pretty good price on a turbo diesel site around 300 shipped but.im realy trying to attain my goal on a smaller turbo.dont want much lag.cause i dont want to run nitrous.ive seen some BA 16s on e85 on like 30psi and those things are pretty beastie...i just got a good job so i thought why not build something nice.and right the first time

for 11's you can leave the motor alone. Im on a bone stock motor ran 128mph on 27psi pump gas, car is dialed in on 32psi now and heading back to the track wednesday with tires.. Im awd but thats besides the point.

Tires, and suspention you need to pay attention too, as well as a fuel system (if using E85). basic turbo setup (try to stay away from dsm turbo's, upgrade to a holset or something bigger than a 16g), and tuning. That will get you 11's easily. Use a mls headgasket and arp headstuds, and the FP cams are cheap and effective on stock valvetrain.

I can't stress tuning enough.

Goodluck.

For what the holsets are capable of with the bolt-on .55 a/r bep housing they don't have that much lag. I am on a 2 liter with 272 cams with a bolt on hx40. Full boost at just over 4k and flowing right around 60lbs/min... So far best run was a 11.10 @ 134mph with 4th gear breaking up and a shitty 1.8 60 ft, street tires on a stock intake manifold....

sounds like i will be stayin with setup for now cause i just broke my tranny last night...so thursday i will be getting a tranny equipted with a kaaz lsd.and another clutch for 200 bucks which i think is a steal.. so hopefully that will help with traction.

I'd probably go abit bigger then a 16g if you want abit "extra room" to meet your goal. A good suspension & motor mounts are defently needed. If your going to run it full weight, you'll probably be trying to max the 16g out to see those kinds of times in a fwd (hope your atleast talking evoIII 16g as your really going to be pushing it if you mean a small or big 16g). Personally I go with something more around the 50lb/min range (50 trim, 30R etc). The additional lag should be a benefit & extra airflow is never a bad thing.

If I kept my car fwd, I'm pretty sure I could have ran 11's this year. The car ran 12.2's @ 119 but that was still with a poor 2.0 60 ft. I was running 26 or so psi with all mods in my profile (well except the ones that are now awd related)

welll to me a budget is simply keeping most of the build less than 2k..after i start pulling overtime then i can put more in...but yea that tranny was sent to TRE to make the kaaz more streetable..and im plannin on getting poly urethane inserts...but suspension whats the alternative i could get for a good price?????

...but suspension whats the alternative i could get for a good price?????

Coilovers would be ideal but since we're talking about a budget I'd get a set of springs that will lower the front more than the rear, especially since it's fwd. The center of gravity will shift toward the front in turn helping to keep traction off the line. This, as well as LSD, slicks, and a slow spooling turbo should keep that fwd in check ;) don't forget motor mounts...

Megan Springs
these should do the job :thumb:

thanks for the info.them springs are such a great price im a buy them next week :)...now just to figure out if this tranny im getting thursday.has a kaaz lsd i believe the guy just want to be 100% sure it has an lsd in it..most ppl say that if it dont have a rod through the middle then its lsd and if it does have a rod then its not.so im not realy sure please confirm on that someone..he told me that his does have a rod in it but can garauntee that it has a kaaz lsd
