Thanks Shane.

There is still a lot of weight to be removed. The problem is that the car is to the point where it requires a lot of safety equipment including a 25.5 cage, parachute, fire suppression system, catch pan, window net, wheelie bars... I could go on.

It's not going to be super easy, but I think I can get it to 2100 with me in it. If that means I have to look into that tubular k-member and some fiberglass doors, I'll do that.

Hey Joe contact me. I might be able to hook you up on the cage if you want and some of the other stuff you are going to be needing soon. It's one of your old pals from orlando. ;)

wow......so you think you're around 350hp at the wheels.....sheesh, I guess I better add compression and cams..........someday:D I've done ONLY 304HP and 312TQ.

Phil

anything 300+ on the 14b is impressive there Phil! Horsepower calculators show you at about 314hp though...370ish at the crank...so I'm guessing they read a little high. Aren't you going to a bigger turbo though Phil?

I'd say a tad high........

I'll be going to an EVO 3 16G, but, not yet..........maybe by the end of the year, I'll have to see how well the 14b goes first time out this year.

Thanks!!!

Phil

I noticed in another thread that your car weight is actually higher then what you have listed for your race weight. I'm guessing the race weight was without you in the car? That would make the hp calculator bring it up even a tad more...I'm going to take a guess and say that those things read a bit high. Not to take anything away from Joe's car...it could very well be pushing 350 I'm just saying as a rule of thumb those things seem to read high.

Oh yeah and I've followed so many different other people's 14b builds I might have been thinking of someone else...glad to see you're sticking with it for the year! It'll give me some competition as I track down that 14b awd no nitrous record...although unless I find another grand laying around...or borrow someone elses slicks/drag radials...I'm betting I'm at least a year away.

Good luck on the 14B AWD no nitrous record!
You have an upgraded intercooler, right?
Upgraded injectors?

Just wondering! :)

< guy with the 14b, stock IC, stock injector, no nitrous, AWD record(?)

I have an EVO intercooler on there now with 550cc inj., and 2G MAF. I also did the suspension fully with every bushing etc. and coilovers. ACT Flywheel, Driveshaft shop drive shaft and more weight reduction.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps----11.98 is just quicker than me. I went 12.02 with all the stock parts you list above as well as the original MAF, no fuel control at all, and with the original motor untouched. So, if you have all that, I guess you have me by .04!!! But, if you have 8.5:1 or balance shafts removed you are a step or 2 ahead on the mods so it really can't be considered the same way.

When I ran 12.02@112 my total race weight was 2685lbs. I weighed around 195lbs. at that time so the car was 2490lbs. I ran my 12.00 at the same weight. All of my weight numbers are from the scale at the track with a 1/4 tank of gas. I expect at it's lightest this year the car will be 2250ish and I'm a solid 210 now so I'm looking at 2460lbs. So, right off the bat we're talking about 225 lbs. weight lost not to mention some rotational.
Not to mention being able to keep my power all the way down the track with the FMIC.

If all goes well...it should end well......I don't expect less than 3 tenths betterment, 11.70's, but, who knows.

way back, with all stock injectors, i/c, pipes, fpr, MAF, at 21 psi I did 266AWHP with A/F at 10.8 or so..............but with no AFC I had no way to pull fuel. I ran my last 304HP run on the Dynapacks. I'm guessing on an AWD Dynojet I would put down about 25-30HP more than that now at the MAX. So, I would say somewhere in the 290's, maybe the low side of 300. But, I think anywhere near 350ish is too optimistic without balance shafts removed and cams. Also, a compression bump to 8.5 or 8.8. I have not been back on a dynojet since the 266hp run, only on the packs, maybe I will do both this year, the shops are 1 block apart.

Not sure which one you were talking too, for me right now its a Supra Sidemount, but I plan on going with the PWR liquid to air as soon as I can come up with the money, but that will be after I invest in rims and drag radials/slicks.

he.........probably was you............the more the merrier I guess..

Phil1320

heh, yep, the more the merrier! I was talking to both of you, or anyone else who is going for a record. I figure if everyone else upgrades their IC and injectors then my achievement is safe! :)

I ran that 11.98 with the mods in my profile. Yes, I have a fully built motor with 8.5 comp. I've already upgraded the mods on my car, but I haven't run it at the track yet, so I won't upgrade my pofile until I run it with the new mods. I also won't have a chance to run it with the 14b again until smog time in two years, so if someone bests my time it'll be tough for me to get it back.

If I was going for a record and building the engine I'd go straight for 10:1 compression. If you're running on high-octane fuel, why stay below 9:1? If you ever read the turbo tests Slowboy did a while back, their 10:1 engine made way more power on every turbo than the 8.whatever engine they replaced it with. 10:1 is where I'm going if I ever have to rebuild my engine, with methanol injection keeping it street-friendly.

Yep...definately stepping up to high compression when I can afford it. Its too bad we're not all made of money haha. I'm just the kind of guy who likes to go after some sort of record or goal which is what made this enticing...Joe set the groundwork with the FWD for us to follow so why not.

I would aggree the 350 estimate from the HP Calc is a little high. That was a stock motor with 413 cams and 450cc injectors. I didn't use my built motor until I switched to the 16g.

Thats extremely impressive that you did that on the stock 7.8:1 compression pistons...Unfortunately I'm seeing 140ish across the board so my engine is getting a ittle tired.(although it is a cheap tester so I may be seeing higher...or lower). I was thinking about just going all out building the motor when I can afford it, Groden rods, JE 9.0:1 pistons, knife edged crank, ARP everything, the works...figure I'll be stepping up to something much larger after the 14b anyways.
