power steering problem

i have a 97 eclipse rs and i have problem with foaming fluid coming out of the reservoir. ive tryd to air bleed it but no go. is there a certain way to bleed the air and ### kinda ps fluid should i be using. everytime i turn the car off it foams up. i just replaced my power steering pump. any one got any ideas i could try??? please help its driving me crazy

As far as I know, when you bleed the power steering your supposed to leave the cap off of the resivor and turn full left and full right till the fluid stops bubbling.

A small leak some where in the system could cause it to foam up to from the air getting sucked in to.

That would be my best guess to theres probably a leak in the line somewhere thats allowing air in to the system

The reason it is foaming out of the top is b/c u have an air bubble in your system. To bleed the system to get rid of air bubbles,
1) Jack the front of the car up if you can if not you can do it with the tires on the ground
2) With the car running turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and hold it there for about 5 seconds, then turn it all the way to the right and hold it there for about 5 second
3) Do this back and forth about ten times and the system should be bled
4) Refill w/ power steering fluid and your done.

i agree with crazyquik. thats the easiest way to solve the foaming problem.

hopefully your not near trees or a place with debri in the air when you do this. a walnut could land in the reservoir and it will contaminate the fluid!
