yes you can, but be sure to mask off the belts contacting surface, u would not want to slick up that surface... and the surface that bolts to motor, since adding microns of powder coat could make a tight fit..
 
We do them all the time, you won't have any problems UNLESS they get the coating on the contact surface pretty thick which can cause problems.
