porting wategate flapper question!

ok so im going to be switch to and external wastegate setup for my 20g. I dont want to pull the turbo because its a pain. i was wondering if i could just block the flapper hole with something and grind it out with my dremel. anybody done this or should i just pull it. i know i definately dont want tiny metal shavings in my turbo. but was wondering if theres a good way to block it off while i port it.thanks

Not really. Just pull it, it's cheap insurance, and does not take that long to do. Do it right, take it off, and remove the CHRA via the clamp, and go about porting the O2 hole. When your done, blow it out with compressed air really good.

On the positive side, your porting exhaust which means air will blow shaving out when running. IMO, I dont skimp out on taking parts off to port. To much of a pain and half ass doesnt get you anywhere.

yea thats what i figured, i was just wondering if there was a trick of trade i havent heard of. thanks guys. i just hate pulling turbos.

make sure you get new oil return gaskets

Of course. i always buy new gaskets whenever i pull the turbo, all new exhaust gaskets too. Thats why i hate pulling my turbo.

You don't always need new gaskets when you pull the turbo. . . It depends on if you rip them/condition of the gaskets when pulled.
