Man has it changed around here. The DSM community has pretty much died. I've been out of the DSM game for a few years while my hobbies moved else where, but lately I've been getting bored and am looking to get back into it. Occasionally, I've peaked the forums to see of anything new but things have gone pretty stagnant.

While looking though my old DSM files and folders I found I had the long lost po boy homemade alternator relocation video in there so I though I could atleast post it up so whatever members that are still left and keep up the tradition of budget homemade/home built performance cars.

pretty awesome, been looking to do my own diy alt relocation kit. although i want the pivot point at the top, flip the alt the other direction and put a turnbuckle tensioner on the bottom. if i get lazy, ill do this...

I'm going to be attempting this with the motor in the car, do you by chance have the measurements for the mounting holes?

There were no dimension in the original video for the mounting holes, but they are easy to figure out. Build the bracket and mount it on to the alternator loose. Next you want to put prussian blue or any kind of ink that would stay wet on the mounting points on the block. Put the alternator in the location and align with the other pullies with a straightedge. Once you have that good, have a friend just tap the bracket against the block and the mounting points will be imprinted onto the bracket.

I made the bracket and used the dimensions off the original A/C bracket to figure out hole spacing. Once I get it running and make sure it doesn't throw belts I will update with the correct hole spacing.

Hole spacement is 4 inches c2c. If anyone wants a homemade bracket pm me. I just put my new alt in the stock location. The pulley wouldnt fit

Did you try denting the frame rail at all or was it too tight? Denting the frame rail was common practice back in the day for all the early relocation brackets. Even had to do it with the old Jays Racing ones. Not sure if you have to with the new ones.

I want to make this i have seen the video inc before but can not view it now can anyone tell me the dimensions please and thanks i remember some any hekp is greatly appreciated
