I'm thinking of getting one of those high end security alarm systems, I was thinking of plugging the drivers side door handle key hole and just using my alarm to unlock my car. If I ever had to get in the car because of a dead battery I would just use the truck.. Any Ideas?

Why not shave the entire handle like the minitruck guys do? Then just use the pop-open setup like they do. It would be a lot of work but totally worth it!

You could go thaat route...personally. plus those door poppers do go out enexpectedly at times I would just use the op idea. To each there own but I don't care for shaved handles on most cars. Trucks yes but cars no..that's just my .02
 
I would do both sides except the trunk. I dont want to mess with poppers, just somthing simple..

I'm with 91boostfedGSX, shaved handles look odd on cars..

I was thinking maybe some JB weld and sand it down?

Would I be able to remove the Lock altogether and still be able to unlock the car with a remote?
 
Im not a fan of shaved handles either, but my buddy has a white gsx that he shaved his on and actually wired some kind of cable system that is under his wheel well, just in case his batt dies or somehow malfunctions he still has a manual way to open his door, its kinda nifty and it doesnt actually look to bad.
 
good idea i guess but plugging the holes doesnt really work well stopping break ins. a thief could just as easily pry on the window and pop the lock. 25seconds and your in.
 
Ive loved the look of shaved handles on DSMs since before i knew what a DSM was...and will most likely, someday, go with it.


...and they will probably be more of a pain in the ass than i could ever imagine. LOL
 
If you want to delete the lock cylinders I would suggest disconnecting the lock rod to the back of the cylinder but keep it in the handle and use it as a "backer" and fill it with some dura mix 5150 panel bond adhesive you can sand it smooth. I would get some acuators ( maybe the kit comes with them) so you can unlock it. I would also suggest a old school mechanical lever maybe mount it under the rocker so if your battery goes dead you can get in it.

Oh just had a better idea for the dead battery secnerio get a stand alone dry cell to operate the door acuators.
 
To plug it, JB Weld, Bondo, or fiberglass.

Sand smooth, hit with touch up paint.
 
Well I would keep the handles, just want to plug the key holes, use my remote to unlock the doors.

If the battery ever dies, I would crawl thru the rear hatch :)

my question is, if I disconnect the lock from the door handle, will the electric door lock buttons still work?

Meaning by unplugging and removing the locks and unlock thru the remote.. And what about the oem security alarm? The only way to disarm is by unlocking the drivers side door with the key... What will I do about that?
