2G Door handle trouble

While in the process of changing my outside door handle, i noticed that the push rod to open the door (attatches to top of handle) is not there. I guess the previous owner broke it and didnt tell me :/ can i buy a new push rod and replace it? Or am i screwed?

It probably wouldn't be too hard to replicate. It's just a straight rod with a fork at the end. Bring a pair of tin-snips to the junkyard, find a 2G DSM or Avenger/Sebring of the same year as the 2G dsms, pull the handle, pull the rod up high as it'll go, snip it as low as you can. Done.
