Plasti-Dip is the stuff

Went from rustoleum black to flat black + blue metalizer Plasti-Dip on my wheels. Turned out really well IMO. I did 3 coats of heavy black then 2 coats of metalizer. Also used their Dip Release on the tires. It's kind of like a cream that you lather the sidewall with and it protects the tire from the overspray. Once dry it just peals right off. Pics before:

Goo Gone helps to remove it if you decide you want to change it later or it needs repairing etc..

Paint thinner can help you re attach lifted areas as well as fade rips to spray more without having a line

That looks good, the only thing I don't like is that when you get tires mounted it tends to rip off the dip around the lip (that rhymed).

And most people don't put thick enough coats which makes it hard to peel off later. Nothing a little power washing can't fix though.

Some shops have tire changers that never actually touch the wheel with tire tools. If you are doing it yourself or your local shop has no such machine you can get some clear 3/4" hose from your local hardware store and cut one side of it length-wise. Now you have a cover that can go on the lip white wire is being worked with to protect the wheel. Just remove it before inflating the tire.
Another option is to cut the Dip and peel off a ring off the lip. That way there will be nothing to get damaged and also there will be a decorative shiny between tire and Dipped wheel.

Thanks for the tips I'll keep them in mind. These tires are still pretty new so I hope I won't have to do any mounting or unmouting anytime soon.

Looks great! I just am not a big fan of plasti dip from my experience as when I mounted them they slowly started peeling.
