Ok. I've searched, and come to the conclusion that obviously everyone's setup is different. So i figured i'd start my own thread here.Basically at 92K miles my motor is wore out. Leaky valves, and rings. Now i know i could get this thing back together, and running fairly cheap, but im in it for the long haul so i'm going to build it to take some abuse. My first question is do i want to use acl tri-metal main&rod bearings. I want to use a good durable bearing, but i want it to be soft enough to not chew up my journals. I also saw the main bearing cap dowels to help the 7bolt with crank walk. Has anyone used them?
This is going to be my first 4g63 build so im just looking for a little info. I'm lost as to what crank, rod, and piston setup i am looking for. It will be a 2.1L Can someone help me get started. My budget is around $2500

With a budget like that, a 2.1L is not the way to go.

KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!

2.0L!! Eagle Rods/Wiseco-Ross Pistons, stock crank and a way you go. There is no need for a 2.1L motor that you spend thousands on. Just go with this proven combo and be happy with it. The only time I can see a benefit for using a 2.1L is when you are adding a GT42 turbo and spinning the motor to 10,000 RPM.

You can spend $1000 and have a durable motor that will easily get you in the 10's if you wanted. Take the other $1500 and purchase other upgrades, or even better just save the money.

Awesome man. thanks for the help. I was waqnting some better spool up, but im sure i could just bump the compression a little
