1G Painting radiator ends

Anyone paint their radiator ? Mine is yellowish on top. I was going to rattle can it with high temp enamel.

Haven't painted any, but don't see a problem with just that portion of it. Prep is the key though since it is plastic.

Should do, after all it was made for radiators.
Removing it would definitly be the best way of doing it. Not only will you get access to it from all sides but it would also give you a chance to flush cooling system (as well as radiator itself) and clean up the radiator and straiten any bent vanes, if there are any major bent ones.

Just get vht and make sure you prep and scuff alittle first. That stuff works really nice bro

My heat shields are really gross. Those are next

Your radiator is yellowish on top because the plastic end tank is compromised from years of heat cycles, it's not time to paint it, it's time to replace the radiator. That plastic gets weak and brittle and will break off, typically it shears right where the upper rad. hose attaches and leaves you stranded.

If I replace everything that was old and brittle I wouldn't have much of the car left. I'll keep that in mind when flushing/removing the radiator. A mishimoto may have to find its way back in the car

I had the neck crack once. Not fun. I put a CX racing aluminum rad on my 2g, cost $115 shipped and it's holding up well. Painted my heat shields with vht flameproof and now its nice n pretty down there.

I still have the stock fans. No figment issues. I purchased a rad from rockauto before, and they're so-so. Figured why not spend an extra $30 and go full aluminum.

I recommend the Mishimoto. I have the radiator and the slimline fans. Just make sure you check out the forums if you switch fans because the wiring is important. I had my wiring wrong and the fans would only come on at certain times, but not at all of the correct temperature points.
