My 420a is leaking water behind the engine. anybody with same issues??

and my resovoir tank is filled with brown , crap looking stuff.

i took my thermostat out already and replace cap but still no luck.

Now i have to add water everywhere i go. at times the needle goes high then goes down. Idk what the problem is.

Not much behind the motor besides the heater core and I don't know if you have coolant lines going to your throttle body as well. Could potentially be the head gasket.

On the 420a the only place for water would be the headgasket or the 2 lines going and coming from the heater core. Check to see if those are leaking (connect to the hardline right next to the battery) and then at the firewall, just under the throttle body.

Check the block and see if water is dripping down the motor. If the motor has overheated too high and too often the head may be warped and not sealing properly.

A new head gasket would do the trick. You may want to consider checking the plane of the head while it's off to make sure it's not warped.

I don't have time to repair this problem.

Would you guys know how much it would cost me to have some one do it for me?

How long would it take to repair it?
It's my only ride

at any reputable shop it should only take a day to do it, i would recommend getting it to a shop and have them do a test to see if there are any exhaust fumes in your coolant system, the 420a is notorious for bad head gaskets,

Found the problem.

i have a pin size hole on one of my hoses located behind my engine just behind my intake manifold. So im guessing no biggie:D

Should i still test if theres exhaust fumes???
or am i good?

So it's one of the heater core hoses leaking then?

Yes. For now i cut a piece off some of the hose where the hole was at. And luckily it was long enough so i jus used same hose until i get a new one.

Test drove it, drove like 30 miles and didnt leak or overheat:D

yea my car is doing the same thing once i start the car as it starts to warm up the car only sometimes it will start to over heat but 1unce i start to drive it gos back down to its normal temp leaked a lil water the other day not much tho will it be the same issue or...something else

yeah man jus check all your hoses.

since it overheated it may have jacked up your head gasket. You should not have that mud junk in your coolant. I know when that stuff is in your oil it means you have a bad head gasket. But if its not overheating or leaking or anything you would probably be ok until your able to fix it.

For future reference, if you're ever wondering if your head gasket may be bad just pull offyour radiator cap and smell it. If it smells like combustion gasses that's no good. Usually checking your oil and seeing light brown or gray on the dip stick usually tells you if you're screwed or not.

Good to hear it was a simple fix though!

can you remember the last time you flushed the coolant system?

really? WTF all ive been using is tap water

Antifreeze protects the cooling system against both freezing and boiling over. When used at normal strength (50% antifreeze, 50% water), it can lower the freezing point of the coolant to -34 degrees F. and raise its boiling temperature to 276 degrees F. Never use straight antifreeze in a cooling system. Always mix it with at least 50% water. Most antifreeze is 95% ethylene glycol (EG). The only differences between brands of antifreeze are the type and/or quantity of anti-corrosion additives used. Ethylene glycol never wears out but the corrosion inhibitors do. That's why antifreeze should be changed every two years (except for long life antifreezes, which have special additive packages that allow them to go up to 5 years/150,000 miles between changes). For the environmentally concerned, propylene glycol (PG) antifreeze is also available at slightly higher cost. PG antifreeze is less toxic than ethylene glycol. Tap water is commonly used for mixing with antifreeze, however, deionized water or distilled water is preferred. Do not use water softened with salts to mix with antifreeze.

Good info.

I came across another problem idk anythin about.

I was driving for about an hour going around 70mph.

Well well i parked it something was bubbling under the hood so i checked and it was my resovoir tank. Fluids in it were boiling and stuff. So what the explanation for that?
