As the title states, I wanted to get some opinions on which valve springs to purchase.
I’m deciding between these two:

GSC Power Division Beehive Standard Spring set with Titanium Retainers
Or
A set of Kiggly “Steel Street” Beehive springs with steel retainers

I’m also deciding between a used set of Fidanza Cam Sprockets and a pair of new Kelford Cam Sprockets. I will be degreeing the cams too.

I’m finishing up my build and before I put the motor back in, I want to upgrade the valve springs. I will be running an Evo 3 Big 16G and GSC S1 cams in my 6-bolt swapped 95 AWD. I’ll be happy to land anywhere between 300-400 hp. I may not stay with these cams forever, so I want a set of valve springs that can grow with my build if go with a more aggressive cam in the future. I’m sure either of these sets would be great for my needs, but just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on which is better.

Thanks

GSC SS valves 1m oversized
Kiggly Beehive- the 2nd best version
GSC S3 Cams
1g OEM small hole lifter
Evo Rockers

Best street combo you can get up to 1000whp.
Ok, I'm assuming you are referring to the Kiggly "High Pressure" Beehive Valve Spring and Titanium Retainer set (comes with steel valve seats)?

I just checked them out, they seem pretty good.

Would these be OK for a fairly mild 300-400hp street build? I'm not going to daily it, but I plan on driving it a lot for pleasure.

Thanks

Keep in mind op is looking for 3-400 on a 16g, GSC S3’s would be ridiculously overkill on a 16g and hurt more than help on a turbo that runs out of steam at 6500.

For the GSC S1’s the Kiggly street springs would be plenty enough spring, shoot Evo 8 springs shimmed would be sufficient for those cams but it’d be nice to have more room to grow later if you desired. As far as cam gears go the stock ones are all you need unless you plan to degree the cams or just want the bling factor, otherwise nothing to gain there. If it tells you anything I seen over 400 at the wheels on a 16g with BC 272’s and an otherwise stock head with no issue at all. Stock springs werent an issue until I went “big turbo” and seen valve float over 7k rpm, however that was with BC 272’s, the GSC s1’s I’d definitely want a mild spring upgrade of sorts.

Edit: just seen you plan to degree the cams, my apologies. At that point both those cam gear brands you listed are good and neither would be a problem, it comes down to personal preference there. However, with a 16g set up the gains you’d see degreeing the cams may not be worth the investment of the cam gears or the time and headache of degreeing them. Wouldn’t hurt by any means, but a lot of investment for likely little benefit.

Cool, that all makes sense and is pretty much in keeping with what I've researched. I am going to degree the cams and am looking for the extra reassurance of a spring upgrade, although I've read the stock springs are sufficient at lower RPM's as you said.

I'm also looking for a spring that can handle a more aggressive cam than the GSC S1's (possibly S2's) in the future.

Do you think the Kiggly "High Pressure" Beehive Valve Spring and Titanium Retainer set (with steel valve seats) would be a bad choice for my goals? As in hinder more than help? or cause excessive wear? It seems like this set is an upgrade from the Kiggly "Steel Street" springs.

Thanks

I’d think they’d be fine as long as you’re not referring to their “race only” springs. Know a few running their high pressure beehives with various flavors of 272 duration cams in regularly street driven cars, however their standard street spring could go quite a long ways if you wanted to go that route. I’d personally opt for the step up from the street springs if I was planning to go to the s2’s and/or much more power and engine speed later on and was already spending the money anyway.
