I have just come into some cash flow issues right as I was about to start my project. I have a 94 eclipse gsx, a 91 talon shell with rear end and a lot of random parts such as walbro fuel pump, injectors, wideband o2 etc. The 94 has crank walk and the 91 has no engine or tranny. I have a 6 bolt bare block that has been bored .20 over and honed. The 94 and 91 have multiple cosmetic issues inside and out although nothing so extreme that you would notice from a distance. It's little things like the trackand seat mount on the 94 are rusted. The bumper support on the Talon is in terrible shape. Just to clarify I plan on the Talon being the final product.

Anyways, long story short I'm kind of paralyzed because of how much work there is to do, but the main thing that is holding me back is sourcing parts. Where I am there are no quality cars in the part yard....they have all been ripped to pieces. My two main questions are:

1. What kind of advice if any do you have on where to start?

2. How is it possible to restore one of these things to an acceptable condition especially when it is such random parts like the bumper support or seat track? Where do people find these parts?

Any help is appreciated!

Find a cheap roller and fix er up buying one piece at a time. Look through the classifieds or ebay. Craigslist. Or save up and buy a decent running one.

Thanks for your answer. My problem though is that I have a running car and a roller. I need to know where to buy random used parts online.[DOUBLEPOST=1418107433][/DOUBLEPOST]
Try miller import

Thanks I'll check it out!

, Op the only thing concerns me is that you say you are strapped for cash, I will be the first to say hot rodding and restoring a dsm is not cheap, once you get over the hurdle of the seat issue you are going to encounter bigger issues as you go alone that will taxed the pocket more than a seat. Many get into the dsm modding game expecting a cheap rout to performance when in actuality the dsm is the most expensive 4 cylinder to hotrod. You need to analyze your intentions with the car , what you what to do with the car , how far you what to go with the car and finally count the cost and see if its a project you want to embark on. Let me say this if you can find the funds the performance gained from a properly set up dsm is very rewarding!

I should probably elaborate a bit. I am strapped for cash as it applies to my final goal which could cost somewhere in the 20k range from my estimates. I just had a few unexpected things pop up. I am kind of OCD when it comes to this type of stuff so I want everything to be as clean as possible. Now i'll just have to go about it more slowly. I think I will just concentrate on fixing up minor things here and there and build my short block for now rather than doing everything all at once.

I'm going to do a 2.3 stroker with GT35 most likely...I basically want a street/strip car. Then again the Talon shell that I have was a high 9 in the 1/4 mile with a Precision 6766 non stroked bored .20 over....anyways I haven't gotten too far into the exact specs yet. I'm just excited haha

Sounds like a game plan to me:thumb:

As far as being able to finish it, take it one step at a time and find a car that looks like what you want to motivate you. Good luck :hellyeah:

I have a 92 talon rolling chasis with a bunch of parts.. no motor or trans but almost everything else and it is pristene body shape... Let me know if there is something specific you need. If I dont part it, I will be swapping my 93 talon guts into it as the body and interior is almost perfect.

Thanks for your help everyone. I actually just found a 91 Talon in really good shape that I'm going to buy and sell my Eclipse with the crankwalk. That way I have two 91 Talons....one in decent shape and a roller for extra parts. The 91 i'm going to buy already has some slight modifications done to it but nothing crazy. It's got an SAFC, FMIC, Bigger injectors, Walbro 255, FPR, 20G (Ebay i'm sure), ported head with ARP studs and a few other things.

I am going to make sure it's good to go before I buy this one.

I will definitely let you know after I see this 91 in person.
