So we just got my sons '90 GST running (took 3 years ) Now I want a toy to play with and I found this for $1800

"Looking to sell my 96 Eclipse spyder 5 speed turbo. Chassis and Tranny have around 97k miles ,Motor just got finished being swapped out for a 97 with 110k miles as I blew the the old one.It cranks but will not start up.hooked up OBD sensor and it is because of the CAS sensor. If you know anything about DSM's you know the 96 wiring harness has to plugs for the Crank and Cam sesnor, the 97 has the CAS on the pasanger side with one plug.My loss is your gain especially since I know its soo close to being finished but dont have the time."

It looks pretty clean from the pics i've seen. Does what he says make sense? Any opinions would be apreciated

For 1800, do you feel confident enough to fix any other problems that may arise? And do you feel confident fixing it now? Ask for receipts of said new engine.

Both the stock 96 and stock 97 each have a CAS and a CPS. The only way the 97 would only have a CAS is if it has a 6 bolt swap.

Re-read it again, he is just pointing out that the harness has the plugs coming out to the driver side, because the CAS and CPS are both on the passenger side with the 95/96. His motor is a 97 which has the CAS on the passenger side and apparently he just is incapable (the seller that is) of lengthening the harness and swapping out the adapter.
