Ok Guys,

I got a predicament!

I bought a 1996 Eagle talon tsi AWD. Its an auto which im fine with for now. The car needs paint(Its a peralesent purple). Secondly the car is all solid except for the front side of both rear wheel wells. I know this is typical and I plan to weld in a plate on the very bottom and glass the corner. Now my whole thing is I need opinions. With this being said, I do eventually want to convvert the car to a standard. Do you guys think its worth the time and effort with the chasis being the way it is.? I apologize for not having pictures, car is frozen in the driveway:|. Im really stuck as to what to do. Should I fix it up and try to sell to find a 5 speed chasis and go from there or should i give this car some tlc and make it the way i want it?
Other info:
Engine and turbo seem smooth, has some idle issues tho. I hate to give upp a good block.

I just need some input. Help sway me in some direction!

If you want to deal with the rust keep it. I'm debating what to do with my car because I've found a decent amount of it underneath. Mine is also an Auto and I love it (It's daily driven). The only reason holding me back from getting rid of her is she's been the most reliable car I've owned and it's nice not having a car payment and low insurance cost.

If you have the time and money, Get another shell and swap the motor over. Done.

Anyone else?
As the summer months arrive I will have a lot of time to complete a swap. Anyone have a rough cost of what a swap cost? I did a quick search and really couldnt find any figures.

If you can avoid it, don't convert an auto to a manual, a lot of people like autos for their durability and consistency.

Well im mainly concerned with building myself a decent ride. I find an auto to be a little boring going from driving a stick. Ill probably end up selling the tranny afterwards to recoupe a few bucks.

It would be cheaper, easier, and faster for you and the guy that needs an auto if you traded or sold the auto and bought a manual.

Do what you want.

Yea I understand where your comming from. Part of the problem was that I got the bug or twitch for that matter and probably bought a car I shouldnt have. Now after all I been through between title transfer from out of state, reistration, and all the fees, Im gonna lose my a**!

I say keep the auto. The car can be fast as shit and from what I've read on here, guys have run a lot of power through the auto transmission without the need to upgrade, unlike our 5 speeds. The main thing will be to set it up right, and the car could be solid. Either way, good luck.

Yea Absit, no doubt about it. I kick myself for it. I plan if anything to keep it as a auto til late spring or summer and then I can make a decision. Mainly because in the summer Ill be making a little extra doe and have more than enough time to work on it. I mainly need to get this thing straitened out and get the engine light off so I can pass the PA state inspection. Major pain. I have an Idle issue that I've been playing with, and I think its all comming down to an intake leak. Its the only thing I haven tried.
