i think 60 is wayy too big, go with 55ish for the best performance, even with a 3.5" dp back exhaust 60 trimis too big, the t3 exhaust side would be too restrictive

OK, you need to stop babbling. T3 exhaust side is not restrictibe to a 60trim, and you can make a T3 exhaust side thats flows to MUCH for a street car. Exer seen the spool on a Stage V .82? And 3 inch exhaust is enough airflow for 99% of people on 60 trims. Go with 55ish? Are you stupid? Theres no 55 trim, what are you talking about?

60-1 Stage III .63 with only 3 inch exhaust here....

60 Trim more power and if anything on a front wheel drive better traction off the line due to little later spool up. This is an obvious choice I used to have a 60 Trim with stage 3 .62 Ar and loved it!

I have the 50 trim on a awd and it pulls and pulls , I have upgraded from 18G and notices some more lag but top end its very solid and eager to boost..

My 50 trim is in my sig. I went with it due to the fact that it is a good pump gas turbo although i will use race gas and turn up the boost at the track, A guy at a place known for building fast supras and the fastest MR2 in the country was explaining all the compressor maps to me and they made sense to me at the time but that was awhile ago. Basicially he showed me the islands for all the major t3/t4 combos, and showed me how on a 2 liter motor the 50 trim was the most efficient and it didnt cross the surge line like a 60 trim does.

Theres no 55 trim, what are you talking about?

sure there is. call slow boy racing and ask them what they built for todd in north carolina. he has a white gst with rx7 wheels cant remember his nick on here i think its dsmturbos. and if you know who im talking about its not a 54 trim its just very close so they called it that.

it seems like your hung up on the 60 trim after reading everything. my personal experience dictates that a 50 trim over all generally is the best turbo for our cars as per pump gas. when dealing with race gas the bigger badass boys like the 60 trim and larger win out. only proof i have is the dyno and track (or not so track freeway fun :D ) numbers ive seen over time....

ill admit i dont have a perfect working knowledge of garret turbos but i do know what ive seen while ive been around.

hopefully someone like larry, john, chris, dre, etc will put an end to this

Sorry I gotta jump in on this one.
First, I own a 3g 6G72 not a 4G63 (yeah boo me all you want) and I'm not running incredibly high boost for obvious reasons. I first selected a 60-1 for my project. I physically had one and was sizing it in my engine bay. Good part was it had great flow capabilities for my 3.0L but the bad was that I was pretty sure my hood wouldn't close and that i kinda missed the mark on the compressor graph. This was on paper and wasn't tried so I decided to take a step back. I now have a 57 trim T04E with .63 AR (this is quite a step back and also fits under the hood much better, let's not forget). Again--on paper--this T04E looks much better but I'll be running at its near limits and needing an upgrade if I start tuning and upping the boost. I probably should stick with a lower trim T04B, but what the hell. Boost can't wait.

My external gate is set at 6 psi with just an SAFC and GT manifold (unequal length runners..very bad). Once i get an intake manifold from a Eclipse GTS and ignition/timing upgrade devices, I should be free to up it to 11 or 12 pounds.

I've been looking into this also. Today i was in a friends mirage with a pte 60 trim and a stock motor. I think i am sold on that thing. It was crazy and that was only at 15 psi running rich ass hell.
