2G Opening the intake pipe?

I removed my factory intake pipe (The one that runs from the turbo to the MAF). I noticed that it has a pretty large diameter tube inside it from the BOV recirculation connection. Im not sure why that tube would need to continue down the intake pipe like it does, it looks to me like it just restricts airflow. Would it hurt anything if i cut it off flush with the inside of the intake pipe to let a bit more air past?

You can cut it off to help flow. Popular thing to do. The point of the pipe is to help the bov air recirculate and not purge backwards through the maf. Some aftermarket intake pipes don't have the bov hose connector in the right spot or angled correctly and that causes some of the bov air to go backwards through the maf causing a lean condition .. irritating thing to deal with.

Get rid of the stock pipe and get the ebay intake pipe with the bov recirc, and a k&n filter ohh and thr adapter for the size of air filter, the 3 inch is what I used. I think k&n makes an oval filter that may work with no adapter. But there always the first option with the adapter.

This would be the cleaner looking thing to do, but gains wouldn’t be noticeable from the driver seat if there are any gains at all. Cutting that tube was the way to go back in the VFAQ days.
