Just got my injen intake in. What I've noticed and didn't want was the mas/room problem.
Now you got the XXX brand intake pipe that puts the mas right there by the coolant res. And then you got the other XXX brand intake pipe that pushes the mas half way pass the coolant res.
Now my injen pushes my mas halfway pass the res. and it's weird because I have the kn fipk kit. I've seen some dsm's with the fipk kit and their mas is still by the coolant res. with whatever brand intake pipe it is.
And then the other pipe kit pushes the mas half pass the coolant res. with the fipk kit
Kinda get what Im trying to say. Sorry I'm on IPOD and don't have the means to input pictures!

well, i get that there's 2 different lengths of intakes, but don't get what you're asking. Maybe clarify a bit when you get to a PC

I think he's asking which intake pipe he should be getting so that he can keep his FIPK. I'm not sure which pipes are smaller but IIRC the ebay style pipes were fairly short. Keep in mind that your coupler length at the turbo can be a fairly big deal in making this fit and the K&N is huge, you may need to go with another solution for your filter.

Okay, I got this. It pushes my fipk all the way to the passenger side bay.

And then the other pipe WITH THE FIPK KIT, which pictures I can't find on google doesn't push the fipk all the way to the passenger side engine bay!

Notice the location of the mas!!!!
Huuuh! Im confusing myself now.
And credits for the pictures off google...

Its the injen intake pipe that is dictating the position of the airfilter. And it does push the airfilter far into the passenger side. I plan on cutting that intake pipe in half and chopping an inch off and rewelding it to get it to fit right.

Wow your $200+ injen pushes the K&N fpik to the same location my cheap $40-60 ebay knockoff does. Now I know they were very similar thanks to the picture you posted. That sums it up.

There was a thread where I replied and mentioned this to the OP, that the fpik will fit but will push it up right against the side and you could no longer use the mounting bracket. The picture you posted clearly illustrates this, and what better as I was talking about the cheap brand X, and the picture is of the real one, simply wonderful

The picture you show from roadrace, showing the MAS not being past the reservoir is because they are using a stock intake pipe with that FIPK. Try it, you'll see you will have a lot of clearance. The K&N fPIK was intended to be used with stock pipe which positions it perfectly to attached the included mount in the hole right below where the filter mounts.

Yeah, I knew the road race was the the stock pipe, but I just wanted to show that there is another pipe that puts the fipk in that postion. Will, I didn' t spend 200 on it... I've won it in an auction. But yeah, I guess the $44 dollar one on ebay would of worked just as well! Damn!

I had this exact situation. I just cut some material off both ends of the intake pipe, still ensuring enough room for couplers and clamps and now my FIPK sits far enough back to use the mounting post the filter comes with.
