So. Broke them off few days ago thought it wasn't a big deal

Took it to mechanic he said take to machine shop because he couldn't tap the. Aluminum, so went to local machine shop and he had one with a nut welded on the the small broke piece hanging out and he broke it more and couldn't tap even when he heated it up and said he wouldn't do it

He sent me somewhere else and they wouldn't do it either, am I screwed?
14b Turbo fyi

Close but no cigar.
A real 16g can be had for $300 on the forums and sold back for how much you bought it. While Noone will want to buy a used ebay Turbo. If its only for a few months, then get a used 14b for under $150 and you'll be able to sell it for that much.

Hey man its your money, but if you did your research it is possible to change a MHI evo3 16g to a 20g, td05 that is. So all in all, you might even save more money with MHI turbo. Might only cost you a compressor wheel, if you can rebuild it yourself.

You are right, that is a poor excuse. Library's have computers that people can use for free, with large screen monitors.....

I'll check the classifieds on a computer and see how it goes.
what Turbo is best bang for Buck like what do I search for?

The most common turbo upgrade for these is the Evo3 16g it seems. There are many people making great power on the 14b as well with a nice setup.

Thats funny that you mention that..Cause I have been going back and forth with Justin about ordering one..

Then I discovered your article on the housing last night..And it's hit or miss with those then..But for 90 shipped, and if it's bad they wil give you another one..You can't really loose, is the way I look at that..It just takes longer to get if the first one is bad..Ohh well I got time, Justins just got to wait then..LOL

Easy outs work like a charm for me. Removed an ass load of exhaust studs broke off in the head that way. You just have to use a regular drill bit for a starter hole. Then tap the right size "easy out" in lightly with a hammer. They twist right out after that.

Nice part is the piece your removing cleans up the threads on the way out.

I've had more easy-outs break than I can count. It seems that if the bolt was seized well enough to snap in the first place, that even an easy-out isn't strong enough to overcome the seized bolt. I've had them work too, just not usually. Drilling out an easy-out is terrible work too.

dont forget to include the wait time, and the possible difficulty of dealing with the seller. You looking at waiting up to 45 days for a refund if the seller bails on you which seems to happen frequently for me for regulars and businesses.

Very nice. Now what kind of bolts/studs/lube do you plan to use? I might try copper spray onsome oem bolts but havent heard anything about it. And maybe antisieze? Anyone reccomend a specific setup?
Nickel anti-sieze. :thumb:

Don't use copper spray (glue) on fasteners.

Very good statement..That could totally right...

Paul what was the turnaround time on sending back the messed up housing and getting the new one?

After you send in the item for a refund, the seller has 3 days to refund your from day of delivery. The 45 days is how long after purchase you have to file a claim.

Thats odd, ive never had an easy out break on me. I also use snap on easy outs. They cost more a piece then a whole package at sears. Must be a reason for that. Harbor freight has a 6 pack for like $4, that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen LOL.

But yea im also very careful when turning my easy outs because i know a broken one would be a nightmare to drill.

Most of the time it doesnt seem like the bolts are necessarily seized, more just old and weak. A few days ago i broke an exhaust mani stud with 20 ft lbs. You can tighten 20 ft lbs with two fingers LOL.

Paul You got the refund and ordered another one.Or just got the refund?

Unless it's in the article and I missed that part..
They offered me another housing, but I didn't want to waste anymore time and risk getting another blem. So, I opted for the refund and I ended up using the slightly cracked 6cm housing that I already had. This was for my DD and I really didn't have time to wait for another housing to show up from the west coast anyway.

Ahh yes, ok..See I have time to mess around with..So I think for 90 shipped I'm gonna take my chances on that..I could just buy a 14b with good 6cm housing right now, but I got time so screw it..

Tried the Pittsburgh hardened removal kit... and they broke :/
Like I said paid Guy last night for the hotside off classifieds

And drove past Atlanta today and got an evo 3 big 16g for cheap :)
So ill have the 14b and evo 3 16g
