I've had a small leak from the seal behind the oil pump gear for a little while now. I have replaced the seal several times and still leaking. I noticed that the end of the oil pump shaft that the gear goes on has side to side play not a whole lot though, but enough that when I move it side to side a little bit of oil comes out from around the shaft (seal is out). I need to know if this is normal or if i need to get a new front cover and/or oil pump.

Tnak you.

If you can move the pump shaft back and forth then you need a new oil pump. there are no bearings you can replace they are part ofthe front case.
