oil pressure gauge question

I will be purchasing a new oil pressure gauge next week, but I have one question. Should I get one that reads up to 100PSI or 150PSI? I figured the 100 would be sufficient, but I dont know if our cars tipically read over 100 or not. There is no price difference, so I just need to know if I'll ever break 100 PSI with my car. Thanks.

I wondered that too...It was hard enough for me to find a good electronic gauge that went to 100psi...I couldn't find any in my price range that went up to 150. I would assume our cars wouldn't spend much time around 100, but I'm not sure. I really couldn't find any good info on that. I've got one that reads up to 100psi, but I haven't started up the motor yet.

Whats the highest you've seen on a cold morning? What is a good average of your oil pressure after it's warmed up?

my gauge only goes to 100psi, so it's hard to say

when warmed up, i get about 17-20psi at idle, about 70psi while cruising on the highway using Castrol Syntec 10W-40

Autometer makes some 150psi units. I got mine as a 150, it rarely reads over 100 though, just when its cold and maybe at really high revs. Usual cruising pressure for me was RPM*2/100. My idle pressure was usually <10psi.

Yeah, Thats what I was looking at; the Autometer's. I'll probably just get the 100PSI gauge. Doesnt sound like I'll be exceeding 100 much at all. Thanks guys for your input.

holy crap - ive never seen over 70 psi
