compression test will tell you if its the headgasket if thats the only problem it will cost you a timing belt job and a 80 bucks for the hg. u could prolly get someone to do it for 400 or so if thats the case if not it may be the turbo in which case you can get a 14b with no shaft play cheep in the classified section.

okay, i'll look into it. sounds like the best news i've gotten. Dealership quoted me $1,000+ for hg. Looking around for private machanics...

For what it's worth, now would be a good time to get a shop manual, and an experienced guide (especially to DSMs) and try to fix it yourself. My first T-belt and head gasket job just cost me parts and a case of beer (payment for my mentor) a grand total of 200 bucks.

Did it spew oil before the dealer replaced the radiator?

If not, chances are that they caused the problem. Why would a dealer say that there is no way to test for it? That is stupid. Bad dealer. Bad dealer.

Is anti-freeze mixed with the oil that is coming out? If yes, do the compression test. Also, double check the hose routings for the turbo. Who knows, maybe they were messing around with things that they knew nothing about.

I agree with the manual comment. Something as simple as a radiator swap can be done
in about 15 minutes with minimal tools.

Now you have learned. Do it yourself and you will be happier with your car. You can buy a really nice set of tools for what you will save by not letting a dealer jerk you around.
