oil found behind gauge cluster?

Hey guys. So I was doing a little clean up of dash and installing a few things and I pulled out cluster and found pools of oil. Any idea of how or why this would be there? Upon further looking under dash noticed some of the upper harness had oil on it also. Never had a aftermarket oil pressure gauge in car. Just kind of find this puzzling and stumps my head. Has anyone else ran into this? Any Ideas and leads will help. Thanks.

Maybe previous owner had a mech gauge in there at on time.

I have owned the car for almost 10 years. I have had it apart many times and never found this. Just recently came up. Don't know what is going on.

You sure it's oil or is it brake fluid. That's the only liquid into the cab at the clutch master.

Wonder if oil could travel it's way down the wires how badly covered in oil are the wires ? Did you have a bad oil Leak ever?

The clutch mater sits lower then where I am finding the fluid, and yes it is oil. No never had a bad oil leak. It is just crazy how oil could be behind cluster. The cluster is pretty sealed up you know. Not any holes really for anything to get to it. The cluster just plugs in the only cable that goes in is the speedo cable.

May want to consider the speedometer cable and transmission fluid making its way up the cable.

Whitch harness has the oil on the connector? Possible small Leak by the coil pack?

Gear oil from tranny is the only other likely culprit I would think.smell it. Gear oil stinks.

Yeah only thing I could think is that oil is going up speedo cable. I cleaned it up already before thinking about smelling it. I will check it out again after car gets back on road. Doing a few upgrades to car to make more power. Will keep posted in case anyone else runs into this situation. Thanks guys for ideas and input
