oil filter housing questions

I've got a 96 GS-T
Well I think that's what it's called (i don't have a service manual)

It's the Water cooling "spacer" between the filter and the block



and i've got a pretty bad oil leak... oil seems to pool on the spacer..

I believe it's the O-ring/Seal on the Engine side of the spacer...


how difficult is it to remove the spacer? what kind of seal does it use? is it a standard size O-ring? or a specialized Component?

some info would be much appreciated...

When you remove the oil filter there is a hex drive on the shaft where the oil filter screws on. You take i belive it's 22mm-24mm wrench and unscrew the shaft then the cooler sandwich comes of easy. Very simple to do but, you are going to want to clamp the coolant lines to the sandwich so you don't lose alot of coolant when you remove the sandwich.

any idea what can of seal is behind the sandwich? is it an o-ring? a paper gasket? etc

It's a o-ring Mitsu should stock it. Be careful when tightening the housing back on don't crush it.
