Oil filter housing question

The ass hat that had my car before me somehow managed to strip all of the threads off of the oil filter stud. So i thought to myself "hey, ill just buy another oil filter housing, and ill be good to go". I ended up buying this housing EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - OEM Oil Filter Bracket Assembly: Mitsubishi Eclipse 06/90' - 04/92' along with the housing, i bought a stud for it EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - OEM Engine Oil Filter Bracket Stud for Oil Filter: Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99
Lo and behold, this stud is the longer one that was intended to go through the liquid cooled sandwich plate. Does anyone know where i can get the shorter stud? Or am I going to have to get a different housing?

hey buddy. my sugestion to you would either be to go to any hardware store and ask them and or get an oil filter relocation kit off ebay. i hoped i helped. thanks

I would recommend you to insert a straight wire into the hole and measure how deep the hole is, and get the bolt on any hardware or any auto parts.
Bolt size is 8mm x 1.25
That's the thickness and thread size, so you just figure how long you need it.

I'm assuming based on his links, he needs the hollow ~1in hollow stud the oil filter screws onto. not an m8 bolt. It is late, and I could be mistaken though


I looked around online, and in my ware-house off a basement thats full of parts and I don't have any short ones, nor can I find them for sale on the interweb.

Other ideas include looking for one for a evo, or 3000gt. or calling satan and seeing what they can do..


And your car in your is a 2g in your profile, and you bought a bracket ass. for a 6bolt. I'd assume this is intentional(swapped a 6bolt, diff. car), right? and why arent you using a oil cooler plate?

And the last tidbit I have is you can buy a forward facing oil filter housing for the 6 bolts if nothing else works out.

I was told by the previous owner that it is a 6 bolt, although the guy didn't seem to know a whole lot about it. I haven't had a chance to check the flywheel yet to make sure. It appears to be a 6 bolt motor, but it is a 95, so i suppose it could be an early 7 bolt. The car doesn't have a cooler plate, it has an external oil cooler. Would it be cheapest to just buy a cooler plate?

It would be easiest to call mitsu, tell them you need the oil filter stud for a early 1990 eclipse.
Secondly would be to use the cooler sandwich for a spacer, left unhooked, if it will fit on your oil filter housing.
