Hey guys, I was just wondering if my goal of 300whp is attainable on a certain setup i have planned out...

-stock 7bolt block
-stock 7bolt head/im
-FP big 28
-dejon/injen intake, K&N filter
-greddy hard upper and lower IC pipes, Ngr type S bov
-greddy 18r fmic
-FP cast exhaust manifold, 2.5" o2 housing
-2.5" mandrel downpipe, high flow cat, catback

-IPT end clutch kit
-IPT modified valve body/ translab shift kit
-large ATF cooler
-eprom tcu custom tuned

-re-wired wally 190 fp
-evo 9 "560" injectors
-vac/boost and wbo2 gauges
-eprom ecu tuned via dsmlink

is my goal of 300whp possible with this setup? anything i missed?

Not with an auto..... you MIGHT get close to making the power on a good day with a very good tune but you wont put it down to the ground.

Hey guys, I was curious if you guys could help me realize if my goal of 300whp is possible with planned mods, or help me figure out what i may be missing for my goals...

-stock 7bolt block
-stock 7bolt head/im/tb

-dejon intake, K&N filter
-greddy hard upper and lower ic pipes, ngr type s bov
-greddy 18r fmic
-FP cast ex mani
-FP big28
-2.5" o2 housing, downpipe, highflow cat, catback

-wally 190 re-wired
-evo ix "560 cc" injectors
-vac/boost gauge...wbo2 gauge
-eprom ecu tuned via dsm link

-IPT end clutch kit
-IPT modified valve-body/shift kit
-eprom tcu custom tuned

will this plan reach 300hp safely? is there anything I am missing?

Save some money and get a punishment racing FMIC kit, it's a great kit. And I would also choose a Evo 3 16g over the t28.

And a good tune is what will really make 300whp possible with that setup.

Hmm... Hard to say every car is different. Will a fp big 28 take you to 300whp on your setup? Many variables can make or break it. My friend has 217k stock motor with a evo 2 16g and 1000cc injectors and is making over 300whp. So Find a good tuner and go for the goal.:thumb: If you happen to check FP's website they did take there FP-Big28 on a full weight 99 GSX to an [email protected] on 21psi. Only other thing i would recommend is maybe upgrading your injectors.

Your fuel and turbo can support 300hp, it's all in the tune though.

Ditch the Greddy POS intercooler. Go VRSF or Punishment for an affordable short route or go with an amazing ETS kit.

Overall, if you have to ask these questions, you need to do more reading on the parts you are buying and understand them.

with a evo 3 16g its do able. My car made 250whp on a 14b at 20psi street tuned by me so if i can make that with a 14b u deff can with a bigger charger.

with a FP big28, your goals should be closer to 400AWHP. Id consider bigger injectors, and the BIG28 comes with a better free fuel pump than the 190.
One thing you forgot is an Aeromotive rising rate fuel pressure regulator.
another thing I'd add, since you are planning on getting link, get a GM IAT and a MAP sensor so you can run speed density.
Also, a cheap methanol injection kit will make your life so much easier.

Says the guy with 48 posts...

As stated before don't buy a Greddy fmic just because it is a Greddy. Buy a Megan Racing or VRSF for less than half the price.

i wouldnt think its safe, you will max out the 560 injectors, 190 lph would be maxed out if you do setup everything else for 300whp. Also your stock gasket wont hold long. IMO

Why does it matter how many posts the guy has? There was nothing wrong with the information that he was giving to the OP

Didnt like what I said to you in response to post 300 so you just posted again???

my setup consists of a 1990 awd gsx........5 speed. eprom ecu, vrsf fmic, 780 cc injectors, a rewired single wally 255 pump, a pte 50 trim, 2g manifold, and a 3 inch catback exhaust.....also the car has a 2g maf swap on it. what kinda of power on pump should i expect? after i upgrade some of the drivetrain id like to run e85....what kind of power will that turbo make on e85? what size injectors for e85? thanks

its got an adfpr on it already......the car will be dsmlink once tuned.......on the 780s wil only see 93 octane....as far as e85, maybe next year

Hi, I'm looking at purchasing a 93 talon with the following mods and would like to know how much power this motor is capable of handling. Also how much boost do you think would be run safely for a street/ road race car?
Oh Btw I have plans to run E85 :thumb:

6 Bolt Swap
Eagle rods
Weisco forged pistons 8.5:1 compression ratio
Rebuilt head w/ Slowboy Stage II Cams
Balance shafts removed
ARP head studs
ARP rod bolts
Crower titanium retainers and upgraded valve springs

Intake
Second Generation MAF
K&N filter, 3" intake tube
Silicone and rubber flex couplers with stainless steel T-clamps
custom built 2.5" polished aluminum intercooler pipes
32"x10"x3" front mount hybrid bar/plate and tube/fin intercooler

Turbonetics T3/TO4E 57 trim compressor (polished) and a stage III turbine wheel mated to a Ceramic coated (inside and out) .63 A/R turbine housing with 360 degree thrust bearing. Turbo just rebuilt.
Tubular manifold
Turbonetics 35mm external wastegate (routed back into downpipe)
custom 2 piece 2.5" to 3" downpipe for easy removal
Full length 3" exhaust
Stainless steel Magnaflow muffler 3"

On E85 @ I'd say 25 psi. You are looking at 450-500 depending on temperature and other factors like tuning etc etc.

You'll need to familiarize yourself with that particular car's tuning setup. And how you need to tune it. Because if you plan on changing fuel. Prepare yourself for a nightmare of fuel trims and dialing things. Mainly because it is not a car you built. Thus you are going to run into some problems. Maybe a few shortcuts in the build process that keep you from getting the desired power level. And things generally go wrong at some point in anything. The best is to prepare for the worst and take moderate steps.

But I'd like to mention. When switching to E85. Tune moderately (I'm assuming it has ECMLink.) and cruise through about 2 tanks. You want a pure E85 Atmosphere. No E40. Empty the tank completely before adding E85. I'd recommend running the fuel pump for a while after (Before starting the car.) to mix things together. Then tune idle, cruise etc etc. But no WOT. Wait that out for pure E85 in a few tank fills.

Good luck.

Ok, E85 and all that but I still dont see any fuel mods.. Ie: pump, injectors, AFPR.. ect ect.. Without those you wont get much farther than 250-300 whp. If you're lucky. No fuel mods means low boost, low boost means not so much horsepower..

ok here is my setup im putting on this winter

stock 6 bolt
arp head studs
2g manifold (ported)
pte 50 trim.. specs kinda unknown.. previous owner didnt have much info on it
25 psi
pte 680cc injectors
walbro 255
afpr
bc 272 cams
jmfab race smim with s90 tb
full 2.5" exhaust
tuned with safc

This is what it currently has for fuel mods and tuning software:

Fuel delivery
680cc injectors
walbro in tank 255LPH high pressure fuel pump
SAFC II fuel computer (the new style)
Palm Pilot with Pocket Logger software for data logging and tuning

But I will be looking at changing out injectors and Fuel pump bigger for E86

Oh and its AWD, Tranny also has

Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch
Lightened stock flywheel
Tranny rebuilt by Road Race Engineering
Custom short shifter w/ Steel bushings

What kind of power do you think the bottom end will handle? If I go bigger turbo would I be able to push scary amounts of power like 6-700 range (with supporting mods) or would the motor need even stronger internals?

so im not sure if im in the right place with this but i didnt want to get yelled at, so mods if im wrong please move this.

Im almost done with a current setup in one of my talons it is as follows

Stock 1g head w/ REV dual Valve springs and revised Lifters
BC 280 Cams
OBX Adjustable Cam Gears
Stock Pistons and rods
ARP Head Studs
MLS Head Gasket
Balance shafts eliminated
Evo Big 16G (turbine housing gasket matched)
7cm Exhaust Housing (ported+Gasket Matched)
Pacesetter tubular exhaust manifold
FMIC w/ short route piping (2.5in piping)
RC 660 Injectors
Wally 255 pump
O2 Dump Housing
3in Exhaust no Muffler no resonator (straight 3in turbo back)
6 puck Clutch
Aluminum flywheel
DSM Link

what kind of power is a setup like this capable of making? just curious im just trying to anticipate what ill see when it hits the dyno. ill run as much boost as 93octane will allow without leaning out
