O2 sensor housing and sensor stripped

So I am at the tail end of installing a 16G on my 2g GST and I went to put the 02 sensor in the housing (with anti-seize) and by hand it only wanted to turn one full turn and then it would hang up. I spent 15 minutes trying to line it up and I thought I had it so I used my O2 sensor socket to start tightening it up. Well It wasn't lined up and I flattened the threads in the housing and very slightly misfigured the actual sensor threads.

The housing I am using is a heavily ported 1G housing. Is the 2G O2 sensor the same size as the 1G O2 sensor?

I am pretty sure they are but I just want to make sure before I go tapping the housing. I have searched and I believe the thread size should be M18x1.5 correct?

Also, what can I use to clean up the threads on the O2 sensor? or do I have to buy another one.

I have searched for about an hour and have not gotten all these questions answered directly.

They are both the same size. Im not sure though however if the connectors would work from the 1g sensor on the 2g. Might want to look into that.

The connectors are not the same. But in my case that does not matter since I am using a 2G sensor with my 2G car, I am just putting that sensor into a 1G O2 housing which is part of the turbo set up I have.
