o2 housing help

Any o2 housing with the Mitsu style flange will work on a Evo 3 16g. Alot of people just use their stock o2 housings and port away instead of spending more money on the evo 3 housing that may require them to alter their downpipe slightly (different angle than stock o2s). If I was you I would just run your stock o2 and port it to get rid of any creep unless your stock o2 is trash or you're going to be pushing the limits of the evo 3 20psi+ than go with an ext. wg. FYI in order to run an external wg setup you will need to do one of two things 1) weld the stock wg hole shut, so you can mount the ext. wg on your ex. manifold. (extra $$ for manifold and wg) or 2) remove the flapper and port open that wg hole so you then can run an ext. wg on your aftermarket 02 housing (extra $$ for o2 housing and wg). So yeah :thumb:

In the pic below the one closest to the camera is a stock 2g housing and the other is of course the evo 3 (angle is different).

Exactly what he said..

But for the price of the evo3 o2 housing you could always get one from a supporting vendor..In mild steel, or stainless in 3 inches...With no crazy angle, that will bolt right up..

Why don't you post a link of these supposed 3" bolt on o2 sensor housings.

sounds good guys thank you for the info! Just gonna port my stock one out, not too big of a fan of the sound with an external wastegate anyway
An external wastegate can be recirculated, so there is no extra sound. An internal wastegate can be dumped and make a lot of noise. The sound isn't based on internal or external wastegate setup, it is based on whether or not you vent it to the atmosphere (dump it) or recirculate it.

So do I just take the stock one to a machine shop and have them port it out? And how big? 2.5", 3"?

O2 Housing Porting
Port it to match your gasket, focus on the wastegate angle to prevent boost creep. The exit should be about 2.5" but it should match whatever gasket you are going to use.

^ You are correct...I should have posted a link to the o2 housings..There have been so many of these threads in the last week or so..I Must have thought I posted a link..Untill I checked this thread today, and saw I stand corrected..

I need to be on top of my game a little more..

I meant the fact that the E3 housing is kinda cocked..Causing fitment issues..It does flow better than the stock o2 housing but, you can always port the stock o2 housing and get alot better flow out of it..And not having to buy another housing..

Or since you have a 1g, get a 2g o2 housing for almost nothing and port that..

Thats what I have, got it off this site, just wondering what outlet gasket to buy. There is a vendor thats selling a combo of gaskets and it includes the evoIII inlet and outlet. Ill be stright on the inlet since its ported, I was wondering if the outlet was going to be to big.

So you have the 2g or E3 housing? You can always mod the gasket if you have the stainless one..As far as the other one..I actually don't know the answer to that..Id be hardpressed to find the answer myself..

I have a stainless one sitting here for the top of the housing..But I do not have the bottom one sitting here..

You don't get it do you? There aren't any bolt on 3" o2 sensor housings. The thread I posted was in regards to that. With all the o2 sensor housing threads you've been posting on in the last week or so you should know that. MAPerformance, Punishment Racing, Megan Racing... they all have 2.5" outlets.

No I didn't get it at all...Now I actually do..We could have also kept this out of this thread..But either way I learned something..

But I thought they were 3 inch..I was dead wrong..But still 2.5 is good enough for a bolt on housing..
