Well since I have the transmission out of my car being rebuilt, I was planning on checking out the block. I have heard the 1G 6-bolt rods are super strong, and I have a 6-bolt. I am going to put in wiseco pistons, but was wondering if I should at least put in the eagle rods to match? I want a car that will see regular road course usage, so i want a higher power band overall. What is the maximum RPM these rods should be spun too? I will be balancing the entire assembly with the clutch and flywheel, as well as getting a fluid damper and maybe some billet caps for the crank, as well as eliminating the balance shafts. And the turbo is going to be a Garrett 3076 eventually.

yes you can hang forged wisco pistons on stock rods, just like the OE pistons. but then the rod will be the heak link,
Of your going to the expense of forged pistons, you may as well get the eagle rods for the added strength and peace of mind

Rods are usually measured with HP numbers. The higher horsepower, the stronger internals you need. Your top end is what is RPM dependant so you don't float a valve and cause havoc in your engine (i.e. stiffer springs and cams that allow your power band to be shifter to where you need it).

If you plan on going with a higher RPM than stock consider getting ARP rod bolts 9. The rods will need to be checked for roundness after bolts are torqued down and possibly honed out if they become out-of-round.

As BogusSVO stated, if you are already inside the motor, just get some stronger rods that are better than OEM pieces. You won't have to worry about them and they already come with ARP hardware (Eagle does anyway).

Thanks for the input, I am definitely going to get the set of Eagle rods since i will have then engine apart, as well as replace oil pump and cover, timing belt and Balance shaft elimination. I am doing the head too, stiffer springs and a 272/264 cam set up.
