i bought my car with a bad ecu then i swapped it for a non turbo ecu but i didn't know it was non turbo. it runs kinda good when i get up and go but when i come to a stop it idles really low and i have to feather the gas to get it going again. basically i was wondering if it is harmful to my engine and when i get a turbo ecu is it going to increase my hp? also do i need a awd one or would a fwd work?

It probably isn't good to run that ecu on a turbo car, because the non turbo ecu uses far less fuel and your probably running lean as hell in the higher RPM range which is why it feels like its running good. Lean = Heat = Torque = BOOM. And no the ecu doesn't have to be for an AWD, as long as its a 91-94 Turbo the ecu will work just fine, although an auto ecu will have slightly less power, maybe 5-10hp less.

Except that the non-turbo ECU thinks it's driving 240cc injectors and the engine has 450cc injectors, so rather than being lean it's going to be pig rich.

Thats true, so it looks like you will probably spin a bearing before you blow it up.
