Non Turbo DSM's WhY???

I am just wondering why some people like non turbo DSM's and why they buy them?

Because they like the way they look or because they are cheap and easy on gas.

Well your just asking for it arnt ya....
This is one of the most vague and foolish question I heard all day.
But I guess I will give you a reason while I'm here. Some people like the N/T Eclipse for there stylish appearance, and it also makes a great daily driver for people not to concern about power. And it is also cheaper then the turbo models. That is why there are different Trim models(rs, gs, gst,etc) to appeal to more diverse group of consumers...

hey, i own 3 talons, two turbo awd's and one non turbo fwd. i enjoy all three, they all have their strong points

true.besides,they really aren't that bad.I mean compare them to the celicas,civics,integras,sentras,focus,cavaliers etc,etc of their timeand their really right there in the ball park except that they look that much better.While they are not high performance they can be made to have a nice peppy behavior if you do some simple bolt ons and TLC.When you compare the non turbo dsm's with the cars in there class from other countries they really aren't that slow.People need to get their heads out of their asses and realize how good you got it in the U.S.A. while we may not get all the good stuff,the good stuff that we do get is way more accessible in the US then it is in other countries.In my country(Argentina),The only people who have dsm's(there are no NT's there) are rich kids who's dads are surgeons or executives and such.While all the young kids are racing in little 1.5 liter fiats or old school ford falcons with a 3.8 I-6 with one single dual carb setup.A 2.o Liter engine is considered a healthy size engine in the rest of the world,while the 3 litres are considered as the same as the 454 v-8's here and such.So when you compare the nont urbo dsm to the rest of the world,it's not that bad.while here in the US it is an underpowered car,I would still rock one for a DD,or if it got worse i still rather have a non turbo dsm then 75% of the rest of the sport compacts out there.thats my .02.

Yes I can see now....good on gas and u still get the appearence... I guess Id take a non turbo for my beater ride and keep the GSX tucked away till night.

That's what I do.

Many reasons to own a RS/GS over GSX/GST.. but money is the main reason. Lower initial cost. Lower insurance cost. Lower gas cost. Lower maintenance cost. If you don't care one bit about performance in a car (like my girlfriend) then why spend the extra cash on the engine/drivetrain if you just want the looks? Her Scion tC could have a 3 cylinder Geo Metro engine in it and she'd be perfectly happy with it.
